The Stump Restaurant whas established in 1996. It was a little white building beside Piney Point Grocery Store. And it used to be called Dorothy’s. 96 Don Collins took over it and started cooking steaks out on of the back. In 1997 they started Construction for the strip mall. The new restaurant opened up in 98. In July of 98 I came in and had a chicken fried steak sandwich in a order of onion rings. I was down for a few weeks with my daughter for the summer I went back to my mother’s house I’m told her for some reason that if they ever wanted to sell it let me know I didn’t know that 6 months later I would be running it. So now I have been here since March 3rd of 1999 at the time of writing this I’m about to approach my 20th anniversary.

Always love stopping here when we are at the lake. Great food and good people. I have eaten here since I was a kid. Definitely try the burgers or have a drink at the bar. The staff is friendly and very helpful, and the prices are fair. Anytime you are in Rayburn Country make time to stop in and have a bite. You won’t regret it.

Great bar & restaurant! The staff and owner are really friendly and you can tell they try hard to make a good experience. Besides pool, there’s a light system with music if you’re into dancing! Another big plus is there’s a nice area out back for smoking so it’s super clean inside unlike many other bars I’ve been to! Very fun place to hang out overall! Highly recommend!!

Good, fresh American fare with good customer service, very near the most beautiful part of Lake Sam Rayburn. The price was commensurate with the food or even a little on the inexpensive side, so good value. Will definitely return!

Great food. Your not gonna leave hungry. Great service. Cat fish sandwich had 3 big pieces and loaded with fries. Our friend ordered a single burger and it was huge, I hate to see the double! My buddy got the large catfish dinner there was at least 7 pieces of catfish. Definitely coming back here when we come back to sam rayburn.

So this place was open on the 27th! Everything else was closed or was fast food – on a Saturday no less. Trinity was our server, deserves a raise, and Renee and Miss Didi were the cooks, amazing stuff. Had the Tejas omelette. My taste buds were in heaven. One should definitely eat here.

Absolutely the worst food I’ve ever had. Wal-Mart deli has more flavor and is less dry than this place. How do you make boiled shrimp dry idk. How do you claim something as Cajun without seasonings idk. How do you have such a high reputation and fall so far from it. Idk. I would give a negative 5 star review if I could.

When at Lake Sam Rayburn, you can’t go wrong with a Kitchen Sink Burger, Cheese Curds or Chicken-Fried Steak at The Stump. The Cheese Curds were as good as some I’ve had in Madison, WI, cheese curd central for the United States.

We came here because someone recommended it but oh my goodness, never again. My $35 steak was well done and very chewy. ( I ordered medium)
My daughter’s hamburger taco was raw.
My husband’s burger was bloody. Sent back before I got a picture.
The only good thing about this place was our waiter, Jordan. She kept a positive attitude and was very nice.
