This is a good Vietnamese restaurant. I got the Pho Special Combination. There were plenty of meat. The broth was light and had a good balance of sweetness. Overal I think the pho is average at best compared to Vietnamese Pho.
Would I eat here again? Not for the pho. I’ve waited over a year to try this restaurant and have heard great reviews on their Pho. Disappointed in thier pho but the other menu options were great.

Eggrolls: 9/10 (precooked)
Springrolls: 5/10
Combination rice platter: 9/10
Fried Pot Stickers/Dumplings: 7.5/10
Bo Kho/Beef Stew: 9.75/10

We were a bit skeptical at first but all doubts vanished when the aroma of the pho engulfed us. The beef stew paired perfectly with the baguette – slightly toasted crunchy on the outside and soft, silky inside.

This place as a BIG disappointment. The spring rolls we ordered didnt come with vermicelli noodles as noted on the menu. When we got the springs and asked they quickly mentioned that its been this way for a long while and that they just havent taken it off the menu.

For the price of the spring rolls egg rolls and pho was small. Im not sure how this place was rated so high. To top it off we got jolly ranchers.

I would not come here again.

Excellent service, top-tier Vietnamese dishes. The Combo platter was very delicious; the meat was grilled well, the vegetables were fresh, and the rice was very generous as well. The vermicelli noodle dish with grilled shrimp was just the right amount; usually served with a huge amount of noodles, the vermicelli noodles here were very well balanced. The sauce elevated the dish. The spring rolls were freshly made and were soft! The iced coffee was very delicious as well.

The service is top notch! We got our waters refilled when needed and they did check up on us when they could.

Would highly recommend this spot if you’re craving one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in the cities.

Awesome Vietnamese spot. We got the Banh Mi, crab rangoons and fried rice and they were all dynamite. Looking forward to going back for Pho, Pad Thai and Curry

Amazing food and full of flavor. Tried the cream cheese wontons, chef special pho, and mango smoothie.

Staff were great. A nice atmosphere to eat in.

Gion Vietnamese Restaurant — New Hope, Minnesota
I wasn’t hunting for dinner—I was just driving with no destination—when I passed a Vietnamese spot with an animated LED PHO sign flashing at me. That’s usually a good omen. I pulled in.
Inside at about 7:30 pm, the place was busier than expected. Plenty of diners, plenty of staff, and that end-of-rush energy where everything’s getting wiped down and reset. That alone told me something good was happening here.
I tried to order fresh spring rolls—sold out. No problem. They make them fresh daily, and I’d rather they run out than serve yesterday’s leftovers. Then I went for a bánh mì—also out, due to fresh-baked bread being gone for the night. As a foodie, I’m fine striking out if the reason is freshness. I’ll just come back earlier.
So the audible changed to:
Pork egg rolls
Fried dumplings (for my wife—she’s the dumpling judge)
Chicken Pad Thai (my go-to benchmark dish)
Twelve minutes later, I was out the door with a to-go bag.
Back home, lids popped—and honestly? Lovely.
The fried dumplings were excellent. Almost a pastry-like shell around the pork filling, formed in those perfect half-moon shapes. Light, crisp, and balanced.
The pork egg rolls surprised me. I’m picky here—grew up on old-school Chinese handmade rolls. These held their own. Substantial filling, visible pork, not just layers of wrapper stuffed with cabbage. Two dipping sauces came with them: a fish-forward sauce and a hoisin-style sauce. Both worked.
Then the Pad Thai. Refreshing. Light. Exactly how it should be.
Noodles weren’t heavy
Sauce wasn’t cloying
Chicken was plentiful—and crucially—not overcooked
That last part matters. So many places dry the chicken out. Not here. It was tender and flavorful, and the portion was generous without being sloppy.
Bottom line
Even with two items sold out, I walked away impressed. That tells you something. This is a place doing things fresh, even if it means saying “not tonight.”
I’ll absolutely be back—earlier next time—for the bánh mì and fresh spring rolls. If those are anywhere near the level of what I had, Gion’s going to be a regular stop.

Food is great! A bit on the sweet side-different from what I am used to down south but great taste all together. Wish they would come by more often to see if you need anything during dining. I will visit again and would recommend.

Gion is always consistent with great food and good service! Delicious egg rolls, the shrimp pho is a must have and I love their bun salads (grilled beef is my favorite!) resanoble priced. Highly recommend it.

I recently visited this place for dinner, eager to indulge in a delightful pho experience as a pho enthusiast. However, my expectations were not met. The broth is blah until you add your seasonings to it and I like having chili oil. Unlike most Vietnamese pho establishments that generously provide chili oil at the table, this place charges an extra $1 for it and fails to mention the extra cost until you get your bill. This oversight goes unnoticed by customers. The customer service was also lacking. They didn’t even bother to inquire about the quality of our food or whether I wanted more water until I had to politely request their attention.
