A kürtősh/chimney cake (known as kürtőskalács in Hungarian) is a sweet pastry with a crispy, flavored outside and a soft, fluffy inside. We offer them as a traditional kürtősh and filled with ice cream, but our specialty is baking kürtősh on-site at private events. What makes our process unique is that we learned & experienced the craftsmanship firsthand while living & immersing ourselves in the kürtősh culture in Budapest, Hungary.

I am already looking forward to my next visit to Kurly Kurtosh—that’s the best way to start this review because, WOW. The experience was a perfect 10/10, thanks to the exceptional customer service from Nicole and her team, and the immaculate cleanliness of the store.
I was originally recommended Kurly’s by my nephew in the summer of 2025 and have been promising to visit ever since. I’m genuinely upset with myself for taking so long! I live in Clifton and drive through the Nutley area, right on Kurly’s route, all the time, and unfortunately, I had driven past it countless times. Now that I know the location, I will definitely be back.
Let’s talk about their dessert/pastries. I ordered the Dubai Nutella Pistachio Kone, and it was incredible. The cone itself wasn’t a typical, “not so” overly sweet ice cream cone; after eating it, I didn’t feel like I needed a nap. It was the perfect scoop size and completely satisfying.
Before I got my Dubai Kone, Nicole generously offered me a complimentary sample of their famous Kurly’s Chimney Cake. This popular Hungarian pastry, served warm from the oven with a dollop of vanilla ice cream on what I hear is a somewhat controversial “European” spoon, was absolutely memorable. When I say it was light, fluffy, and delicious with the right amount of coating, it was a memorable moment. Nicole tried to convince me to just enjoy the sample and return another time for the Dubai Kone. Um, no, lol! You can’t tease a girl with a sample and expect me not to fully commit for the day. Absolutely NOT! Lol!
Overall, my experience at Kurly Kurtosh earns a 10/10 rating.

We decided to stop by kurly kurtosh this weekend after seeing it online and thinking it was a really cool concept. From the moment I walked in, I felt very welcomed by the staff. When it came time to order, everything was explained to us in great detail, which I really appreciated. The owner even took the time to share the background of how the place came about, along with her vision and idea. She was super friendly and welcoming, and that kind of hospitality truly makes a difference. It made the whole experience even better. I ordered the Dubai Cone, which was excellent, absolutely loved it. I also tried the Oreo cone with vanilla ice cream and it was amazing as well. I will definitely be returning. This place is a must-try. Thank you so much for the hospitality!

I tried the kurly kone for the first time today and the experience was amazing! You can tell the owner is very passionate about what she does and the pastry was warm and delicious! There’s a variety of flavor combinations to choose from and the Nastos ice cream was fantastic as well. Highly recommend!

The Kürtősh chimney cake is so yummy. I was born in Romania, so this dessert is very close to my culture, and having it right next to my house is quite amazing. The place is very clean, bright, the ambiance is great, and most importantly—it’s absolutely delicious. I also love the creative twist she puts on the original recipe with the cone and ice cream scoop. It’s a fun, creative combination, and I totally love it. ✨

We ordered a cinnamon & oreo chimney cake with banana cream pie & black raspberry ice cream. The cones were fresh, soft & the ice cream flavors were present. The owner was extremely kind & really engaged with us. The staff were also super kind & friendly and offered samples of their lemonade. The environment was relaxed & pleasant and they offer plenty of parking adjacent to the space. I WILL BE BACK!
