Mike was awesome with an immediate friendly welcome and intro to the OLDEST restaurant in Richmond! Promptly sat and offered the specials. Food was out quick and delicious. Wasn’t able to capitalize on the Smore Luau but stoked to come back for it!

Always a great time. Love their rooftop and drinks. Friendly staff. Had their brunch a few times as well — decent.

Went there for the first time tonight. Service was great! We explored the happy hour menu. The chicken skewers were tasty and the order came with 2 so we could both try them. The potato kegs are like big tater tots stuffed with yummy ingredients. The mini poke bowl was enjoyable. We left satiated and pleased. Nice assortment of happy hour snacks

Had lunch with my son before the epic storm yesterday. The gentleman who waited on us was truly kind. Son had the crab cake sandwich with fries, and a chocolate milkshake. We shared the calamari and I had their brussel sprouts. Oh, my goodness..the brussel sprouts were heaven! Cooked in bacon, balsamic reduction, and freshly shaved Parmesan cheese. Not everyone can do brussel sprouts justice. They knocked it out of the ballpark! My son loved his crabcake sandwich and milkshake. The gentleman taking care of us was quick with refills on beverages. We had a lovely time. Thank you!

Food was so amazing here! More than just a deli. They also have great hamburgers and chicken sandwiches. The cheesecake is made in-house and is the icing on the cake so to speak. The roof top is great when the weather is nice. My family and I were able to eat on the rooftop during our trip. Service as also fast and friendly. We will definitely be back!

Good food and cute ambience inside! The onion rings were a favorite at our table. I need to come back and sit on the rooftop, we had to sit on the patio this time because we had our dog with us. Our waiter was very kind!

Absolutely Disgusting — Worst Meal I’ve Ever Had

This was hands down one of the worst meals I’ve ever had. Absolutely disgusting. I never knew chicken — such a great ingredient — could be made to taste so awful. Even the next day, my family was still complaining about how nauseous they felt. Honestly, I suspect the real chef wasn’t on duty. Maybe there was a stand-in, because this food was so bad even a dog would turn its nose up at it.

The jasmine rice? Dry, flavorless, not fluffy at all. The wrap fell apart instantly — maybe not entirely the kitchen’s fault, but the execution was a mess. The sandwich had no vegetables, the chicken inside was partially burnt, and one piece looked like charcoal. And yet, that sandwich was still the best thing we got — which says everything.

Two stars — one goes to the appetizer. I personally didn’t like it much, but my family praised it highly. It’s hard to believe it came from the same kitchen. That dish made us hopeful and excited for the main course, which made the eventual disappointment all the more painful.

The other star goes to the server, who was kind and professional — thank you for that. But I have to say: the bathroom was horrifying. When I turned on the faucet, the water blasted out so hard it soaked me. I’ve never seen water pressure that aggressive — it was like the sink was ready for a water gun fight. Honestly, it had more pressure than an overachieving Asian high school student.

Overall? Never coming back.

We weren’t greeted upon entry, so I wasn’t sure if we should seat ourselves. Then, a man in a conversation seemed to offer help finding a seat. That was our first red flag. It took a long time for our food to arrive, and mine was cold. I ordered the street tacos, which were average. The server hovered over me while I paid, as if I might run off with the device. Please allow customers to check their bills privately without feeling pressured. The menu was disorganized, offering items from chicken and waffles to orange chicken and rice, to street tacos. We expected a variety like a New York Deli, which was misleading. I’m puzzled how the rating stayed so high. Service was mediocre, like the food. I do not recommend.

We had such a delightful evening at New York Deli! The onion rings were absolutely amazing and we enjoyed the mixed drinks. The cheesecake was phenomenal. Great atmosphere and wonderful food. Our server Olive completely made my day after a long, rough day, and was a true delight. Her customer service and suggestions were very much appreciated, we will be back!

This feels like more of a bar than a restaurant/deli (and isn’t really like a New York City deli at all), but overall we had a great time, thanks to friendly bar staff and great music.

The chicken was a tad overfried– was more crust than meat–but was still tasty.

I’d return!
