We had a nice time at Mary O’Neill;s Irish Pub last night. It’s a small restaurant, not a lot of seating, but it definitely feels like an authentic Irish Pub. They even had a singer last night, and she was very good. I saw their menu before arriving for dinner with our group- and the Reuben looked amazing. Unfortunately, it looked nothing like the Reuben sandwich picture on their website, which showed a good amount of corned beef in the sandwich. Mine only had two small slices of corned beef on it- with barely any sauerkraut- nothing like it was pictured. It was tasty, but very thin. Could barely taste the corned beef-and the saurkraut was almost non-existent, I could barely taste it (see the attached picture). The bread was good, nosly the entire sandwich was bread- and the onion rings were great. But this was the thinnest Rueben I have ever had. For the money ($14.00 for a sandwich plus tax)-definitely not worth it. It is worth saying that I did not complain while I was there or give management an opportunity to correct it- we were starving!

Had a great early dinner tonight before heading over to the Uptown Tea House Waxhaw for an art class. Started off with the seasonal Pumpkin Spice Martini. Delicious!! Our entrées were the Southern Stout burger and the Rueben (light sauerkraut) Both were excellent and came out perfectly. Corned beef on Rueben was tender and delicious. Our waitress, Adrianna, was friendly and attentive.

Our first time here. Great Irish Pub! The decor and atmosphere are great. Our server Emma was so kind and attentive to our needs. She frequently checked on us. The food was great. The Reuben was huge! The Clara Club was huge also! Both sandwiches were clearly made to order and were fresh. The fries were hot and fresh as well. We split a Blondie with Bailey Irish Ice Cream on top. Great food, great experience, and looking forward to eating there again. Keep up the good work.

We are so grateful to Mary O’Neils for their generous donation of leek and potato soup to the Parkwood HS PTSO sponsored staff luncheon!
The soup was absolutely delicious. It was rich, creamy, and perfectly seasoned with fresh, comforting flavors that everyone loved. It was clear that care and quality ingredients went into every batch. On a busy school day, having such a warm and hearty dish made our staff feel truly appreciated. Community support like this makes a real difference, and Mary O’Neils went above and beyond to help us celebrate our amazing teachers and staff. We are so thankful for their generosity and encourage everyone to stop by and support this wonderful local restaurant.
Thank you Mary O’Neils and we look forward to partnering together again in the future!

First time at this Irish Pub and it was soooo good. I had a few Irish coffees that were beyond delicious and my first ever espresso martini – . I ended up ordering this burger that had Sriracha mayo and goat cheese and it’s probably one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time if not ever.

This place is sooo good! 10/10

Absolutely love this place. The food is delicious. Their Reuben sandwich is the best I have ever had. The Guinness is even poured correctly where every sip is creamy. This will become a regular stop when we are in the area.

Never had a bad meal at Mary O’Neill’s. Consistent quality, great service and fantastic atmosphere! Our out-of-town guests always ask to stop by and it has become our go-to spot. The only way they could improve is by adding a spice bag to the menu (please!). So good!

After a long hike, we happened upon this wonderfully warm and cozy spot in the middle of charming Waxhaw. Restaurant was beginning to fill up as we arrived on a late Friday afternoon. We were impressed at the cleanliness of the interior and were welcomed by a charming hostess and seated immediately. The restaurant is decorated nicely and has high top and booth seating, as well as a nicely adorned bar.

Our server was cheerful, very friendly, professional, and made entertaining small talk. She was delightful and was attentive during the entirety of our meal. NZ was pleased that New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc was on the menu and enjoyed it immensely. Cold water served in a vintage-style glass bottle was a nice touch and was refilled without asking.

Although the service and atmosphere were fantastic, we found the food to be a bit lacking. NZ always gets excited when she finds her homeland’s comfort foods on the menu and had difficulty choosing. She ordered a cup of Potato & Leek Soup for an appetizer and the Bangers & Mash for her entree. Unfortunately, she wasn’t impressed with either but enjoyed the Bangers/Mash slightly better than the soup which she wasn’t impressed with at all. She did mention that the accompanying soda bread was good. She’s a tad biased, and perhaps a bit snobbish, when it comes to English/Irish food and has very high standards for these dishes. She grew up eating the best of it so she can be entitled, I suppose. Additionally, after seeing another customer order the fish and chips , she was happy she didn’t order them because they were not served with “proper chips”.

I chose a healthier option and ordered a large specialty salad with grilled chicken. That was a mistake. There were zero detectable flavors from both the salad or chicken. Although I realize that these salads need to be made in advance and refrigerated, I dislike an ice cold salad. I also dislike unseasoned proteins. Even the suggested dressing was bland and did not help. I feel like I ate nothing and left feeling rather unsatisfied.

We’d return again solely to enjoy drinks surrounded by friendly people and employees in this thoughtfully themed restaurant in this lovely town. We’d most likely try a different food option (perhaps the highly rated Rueben) next time around, or just stay for the drink. Slán go fóill!

Five stars for good food (4 out of 5), excellent service (5 out of 5), and great atmosphere (5 out of 5). Definitely a great place to dine with anyone. Family friendly. Lots of good food options. I had the Caesar salad, onion soup, and Irish chicken curry. The Irish curry sauce was brown gravy meets yellow curry. Fun dish. It was really tasty, and served on rice and fries.
