Tucked away like a true hidden gem, Gangnam is a small, mom-and-pop Korean restaurant that delivers big on flavor and hospitality. This cozy hole-in-the-wall spot serves exquisite, authentic Korean dishes that taste like they’ve been passed down for generations.
From perfectly marinated BBQ to comforting stews and the freshest house-made banchan, every bite is packed with warmth and soul. You can taste the love in every dish.
The service? Exceptional. Warm, attentive, and genuinely kind — the kind of place where you feel like family from the second you walk in.
And bonus: there’s a karaoke spot right next door, so after your meal, you can sing your heart out and keep the good vibes going!
This place is a true Jacksonville treasure. I’ll definitely be back — and you should go before the secret gets out.
We ordered fried dumplings (they were okay) and steamed egg, which was too salty. My husband had jajangmyeon, but there was no meat and it was just full of sweet potatoes! He couldn’t finish it. I had japchae, which was okay but had too many bean sprouts. The side dishes were fine. Just taste like it’s been there for weeks
It’s just sad that the taste was different from a year ago. For me, it didn’t feel authentic. Maybe there’s a new owner or cook, or maybe they just had a bad day. I love Korean food—it’s my comfort food—but this time, it just didn’t hit the spot.
I hope they can read this review and make it better next time.
We started with the Pan Fried Korean Savory Pancake (Seafood). It was very good except for the rubbery little pieces of octopus.
Between me and my family, we ordered Spicy Seafood Tofu Soup (mine), Spicy Beef Intestine Tripe Soup (dad’s), Oxtail Soup (mom’s) and Marinated Beef Short Ribs/ Galbi (child’s). We all equally enjoyed our meal and even tasted each other’s order. I added another Galbi to-go for my other daughter at home because it was so good! Also, all the banchan were very good!
The reason why I knocked off 1 star was because the service was very slow. It took so long for the server to take our orders and took even longer to get our orders out. We were literally starving! There were only 2 other tables there. The appetizer came with our entrees. I felt bad because the owner lady was the only one cooking because her helper is off on Sundays, which may be the reason why they’ll be closing on Sundays.
The owner came out and had a little chit chat. She was super friendly and very apologetic about the slow service and the monkfish being unavailable. We wanted to ordered the monkfish soup but she didn’t have enough to make the soup. She advised us to call a day ahead if we want the monkfish because her fish monger only delivers them on certain days and she has to reserve it.
Overall, I’ll keep going back because of the food!
