This was my first time visiting Mellow Mushroom Pizza in Lexington, and wow… I can’t believe it took me this long to come! I had seen so many recommendations but never made the move until now — and I’m so glad I did.
The pizza dough is absolutely exquisite, easily one of the best I’ve had. We tried the Buffalo Chicken pizza and the Steak & Cheese Calzone, and both were phenomenal. Every bite was full of flavor, but the real stars were the perfect crust and the buffalo sauce — hands down the best part.
The service was good, the wait time was very reasonable, and the overall experience was great.
Pizza: 10/10.
I’m already looking forward to coming back soon to try more items on the menu. Highly recommended!

Absolutely the BEST pizza around! RECOMMENDED 100%!!! We went in looking to order our favorite (Merry Prankster) but found out it has been deleted from the menu. (Dear Corporate, PLEASE bring it back!!!! You can never have too many works of art on your menu!). So, we ordered a half-and-half pizza to try new pizza flavors we hadn’t tried before. One half was the Super Pepp and it is AWESOME AND AMAZING!!! The hot honey drizzle is genius! Whoever came up with this masterpiece should get an award!!! The other half was the Pacific Rim. Another excellent choice!!! It’s the standard “Hawaiian” but upgraded (Hawaiian 2.0). Sooooooo good and the jalapeño slices bring it to a whole new level! Our server was friendly and attentive! Great service. We absolutely love this place and it has been a regular stop for over 15 years…but I had to downgrade the atmosphere. I have to say we were extremely bummed to see the psychedelic wall painted over with…I don’t even know (see photo). That wall was so fun and we found something new every time we went. It was so fun and crazy! Such a nostalgic part sadly gone forever! Boooooo!!! Overall, you have to make this your pizza place and the punny names of items is so fun and creative! They have other items on their menu, such as the Spinach Artichoke dip and Pretzel Bites that are out of this world! GIVE IT A TRY, YOU’LL FIND YOU WILL LOVE THE PLACE JUST AS MUCH!

Wanted to try the gluten free pizza. I knew it was going to be small which is fine. Based on the pictures and final price ($20) I was extremely disappointed with the lack of toppings!! A few pieces of bacon?? $1.50 per topping and barely anything on it. I will just get digiornos gluten free pizza. Better bang for my buck.

The service was great and the atmosphere was really nice—everyone was friendly, and I liked the vibe. There was a baby crying next to me, but that’s not the restaurant’s fault, so no big deal.
My issue was the pizza. It was SO burnt that the crust was hard and almost impossible to eat. I let the servers know, but they refused to offer any discount or fix the order, which was really disappointing. I wanted to enjoy my meal, but the pizza just wasn’t right and the way it was handled made the experience frustrating.

I am writing to formally express my deep concern and disappointment regarding an incident that occurred at Mellow Mushroom involving my one-year-old son.
While we were dining, a waitress held a hot pizza pan directly over my child’s head while he was seated in a high chair. The pan was within his reach, and he grabbed it, burning his hands. I immediately rushed him to the bathroom to run his hands under cold water while he screamed and cried in pain. During this time, not once did a manager or staff member come to check on us, offer assistance, or address the situation.
After receiving no support, I made the decision to remove myself and my family from the restaurant. As we were leaving, the same waitress approached us and blocked the walkway to ask if there was an issue. I calmly explained that I did not appreciate what had happened or the lack of response. She stated, “Respectfully, your child is not my responsibility.” While I understand that parents are responsible for their children, it is absolutely the responsibility of restaurant staff to safely handle hot food and ensure it is not placed within reach of a small child — especially not held directly over a child’s head.
As a result of this negligence, my son was burned, we were unable to eat our meal, and we received no assistance, concern, or accountability from staff or management. I am disgusted and deeply disturbed by how this situation was handled.
This experience was unacceptable and should never happen to any family.

My husband and I eat out all of the time and this was hands down the best service we have EVER HAD!!! Our server Jeremy literally made our night. Pizza was pretty good. Enjoyed the freshness of the crust. Sauce and cheese were good. Had the pepperoni with hot honey and it was about right with the sweet to hot ratio and enjoyed it. Cheese bread was good. Marinara with the cheese bread was okay. May order a different dip next go around will return.

This is the fourth mellow mushroom I’ve eaten at, and this is the first meal I did not like. The pizza was like bland ragu on top of white bread. Other locations in Massachusetts, Virginia, and Pennsylvania all have dark ambiance with nuclear color accents. This place was like walking into Old School McDonald’s with the brightest colors imaginable. Also every table had a spotlight beaming down on the table making it seem like High noon. Of all my recent and extremely pleasant waitresses I’ve had, this woman paid absolutely zero attention to me. She took the order and walked away. Delivered it and walked away. Left the check and walked away. That’s what I expect in the North, not in the South. Should I decide to move into the area, I will never eat here again. It might be a stretch, but I’m pretty sure I could find better Pizza anywhere else.
