The desert was rich, very good.
Our waitress was nice, on top of things, and did a great job. It’s not the nicest restaurant in The Villages, but it is certainly a place worth stopping by for a bite to eat. Their specials are the draw, as they are pretty aggressively priced. We had two steak dinners, 2 cocktails, and a desert we shared and were just under $60.
However, it was rather odd to sit five people at a square four-person table, so two of us had to share one side.
Even though we were there earlier than the table next to us, it took us a little bit of time to look over the menu. So we ordered after the table next to us. However, they got their food ate and paid their bill all before ours ever showed up. We waited over 45 minutes for a sandwich, wrap, a couple of salads and a burger.
If there’s one pet peeve I have is burger patties that are half the size of the bun. Of all the buns that you can order from restaurant supply companies, I believe a restaurant should buy one that’s going to match the size burger patty they plan on making. Or here’s a novel idea. Make the Patty just slightly bigger so it actually fits the bun.
The burger tasted good though. It was a little dry and a little bit overcooked. The chips that accompanied the burger were rather bland. There was no seasoning or salt on them. I wanted to upgrade to a baked potato which is on the premium sides list however that’s not available until dinner time which is not indicated on the menu. There were absolutely no condiments on the table. Yes I could have asked for them but they should show up or at least be offered when the meal is placed so you don’t have to wait and let things sit. The burger was also just barely warm cuz I think it was sitting out waiting for one of the other entrees that were ordered. Even our server agreed that the food was taking way too long.
Not sure how I feel about returning. This was our third visit to this restaurant over the years because we live rather far away. Not sure it hits the mark to travel that far to patronize.
Happy Hour as reported on Villager Eats Facebook not honored.
Will not be back.
I’m changing review to lower star rating from review below. Went on Saturday at 5:30pm. Tried to seat us in booth right by reception and pizza oven. Seat was ripped and overall non appealing. So we were seated further back. Service very very slow. Waited over 20 minutes for anyone to come to our table. Another server stepped in to help our assigned server. She was so pleasant. Lobster bisque worse I’ve ever had. Grainy and tasted like hot milk. My entree was chef salad which is what I got on prior visit. Very different experience with this dish on this visit. Lettuce was warm and not crisp. Toppings were skimpy compared to two weeks prior. Husband had baked pasta and had horrible presentation and was dry and thick sauce on pasta. Other couple (from Houston, Texas) ordered. We felt so embarrassed to bring them to this restaurant because of the great restaurants in Houston. Other couple ordered shrimp tacos which were ok; and pizza, which appeared not totally cooked and you could see the slices of unmelted cheese. Took one hour and ten minutes to receive our meals. Anyway, will not return here. Needs updating in dining room to repair ripped seats on chairs. Four stars for service is for length of time it took to serve us. But server we ended up with tried her best, even taking back my bisque and bring another cup to try which was worse than first.
Two weeks prior:
Four of us yesterday after golf. What a nice afternoon early dinner. We were seated outside because didn’t realize you need reservations to be seated inside. But very nice on patio though as perfect weather. We did have to switch tables as meals were coming out because sun was bothering a couple of people at our table. No big problem as server accommodated very quickly and politely!
Items ordered were onion rings for table, daily quiche and fruit, Sunday special of turkey dinner with all the trimmings, a turkey burger (for dietary restrictions), and chef salad w/house made ranch! Salad was my meal and it was so crisp and fresh! Really delicious. Husband had turkey meal and he said he’d order again, which is saying something for him. All was very good and absolutely no complaints from our table. We’ve eaten at several of the country clubs here with disappointing results. This was a pleasant surprise and we will return soon!
