I had the fish and chips. The flavor of the fish was amazing. Juicy and crispy. Chicken strips not so good. Service is friendly. Atmosphere is very cool

A Hidden Gem for Breakfast and Conversation

I’ve been to the Cherokee Restaurant twice in the past three months, and both experiences have been impeccable. It is a quiet, small spot in Norton Shores with a great atmosphere—perfect for actually being able to have a conversation. I met strangerhere for breakfast, and it was the ideal setting. Cause we left as friends.
On top of the environment, the food is delicious, the prices are good, and the staff is wonderful. Highly recommend if you are looking for a quality meal in a relaxed setting.

I’ve been coming here for 20 years since I was a child. Always a great time. Always good food at an affordable price. Today I had my first complaint. After watching nearly 3 people slip and fall on ice build up in the parking lot. The waitress even made a comment about watching someone slip. I asked why they didn’t do anything and it seemed the reply was in the owners hands. I’m a young man- but the majority of the customers here are older in age, one slip and fall and there goes someones livelihood. I hope you take a moment [dear owner] and adjust your property management. Hey it costs money right? Raise the price of your food .25 cents to cover the increase in costs to keep your patrons safe on your property. From someone who manages risk and develops risk management strategies for a living i think this is the best tip you will get all year.
Keep serving great food. Hot coffee and an out standing staff. Thanks.

I ordered the chief omelette and swapped out toast for a pancake. EVERYTHING was yummy and the prices are VERY reasonable for what they give you. They give you big portions. I wish I would have given this place a try sooner. Especially over that awful and scamming Getty Street Grill.

Can’t wait to come back.

Such an excellent place to have a delightful meal. Been coming here since I was little and this place hasn’t disappointed. Love the space, the smells, the memories and all.

The outside is delightfully quirky, but inside you’ll find reasonably priced breakfast items, great service, and good food. The coffee was okay, but our cups never ran dry. Service is efficient and friendly.

Don’t think our server was told she got a table when we arrived. The wait was long, but eventually we taken care of. Enjoyed the food.
But then another over 15 minute wait until we were able to check out. Aside from long waits, she was very kind.

Just ordered big chief omelet, NO POTATOES with my order. Not best at all. Not impressed with meal overall. And for a 3 egg omelet they must have been quail eggs because as you can see, there was hardly enough egg to wrap the other ingredients. Probably won’t be back.

Edit:

We came back to see if the Cherokee is just as good as we remember, and sure enough it is. We have noticed places around the area are increasing their prices for the blame of Covid-19, however Cherokee has NOT increased any prices whatsoever. This in my book makes it all the better. Quantity and quality is all the same as before making this place very consistent in its flavors and endeavors it has to offer. I still would pick Cherokee over the others as it is very little wait times (10:00am – 1:00pm) despite being a power hour, and are quick for food to come to order.

Original Review:

This is our second time back at the Cherokee Restaurant. The food is absolutely amazing from the pancakes to the Texas French toast, and everything in between. Customer service is fantastic and is always accommodating! Compared to many other breakfast places in Muskegon this in my opinion recieved the only 5 star due to its price, taste, and customer service.

The stereotypical imagery and gross appropriation is repulsive. Sad they couldn’t be successful without playing up the outdated racist American view of natives. From the name Cherokee combined with tipis to the big nosed “Indian” statue, it’s pathetic. They even have a totem pole ‍♂️
It doesn’t matter the previous owner was “part Cherokee”. There is no excuse for racism, miseducation, or insulting stereotypes. I couldn’t sleep at night if I perpetuated harmful stereotypes for profit.
The food is just simple. Nothing worth your time. Service was very slow. Staff seemed unhappy.
