Highly recommend eating in the restaurant beside, if you can find a seat despite it’s chaotic nature.
The char Kuey teow is above average in taste, not too expensive either. Would recommend. Same for the famous chendol, it’s watery with more coconut milk with chunk of shaved ice which makes it really refreshing and you won’t get a brain freeze gulping in down.
Asam laksa is good (average) worth a try but nothing to cry home about.
Also offer oyster omelette, lor bak and Chee Cheong fun. Which were all of decent quality. Locals can skip but tourists gotta give it a try.

I enjoyed Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul for its refreshing, nostalgic flavours. The pandan jelly is smooth, the gula melaka is nicely balanced, and the coconut milk isn’t too heavy…making this perfect for the hot weather. They also serve assam laksa and char kueh teow, making it a convenient stop for both dessert and local favourites. The queue can be long and seating is simple, but I think it’s still worth the visit for the overall experience.

I knew this place from social media because it went really viral. People said you have to try this Penang Road Famous Cendol before you can say you’ve truly been to Penang. My husband and I usually don’t go out of our way to try super viral food, but we happened to pass by and decided to give it a try.
We came here on September 25, 2025 at 10:11 AM and there was no queue at all. We ordered one bowl of ice cendol.
For me, the taste was pretty average (sorry… but there are many cendol in Indonesia that taste better hehe). The only extraordinary things for me were the shape of the cendol — long and thin like noodles, so you can easily slurp them — and the palm sugar. The gula melaka tasted very different from the palm sugar in Indonesia. I’ve never tasted palm sugar with that kind of flavor before.
Overall, it’s okay to try once in a lifetime if you’re curious and already nearby.

First time trying chendul, it’s not too sweet. I like the red bean a lot, soft and fragrant. We went around 9+, there isn’t queue. You can sit in the restaurant next to it even without ordering their food. The auntie at the restaurant recommended the fried oyster, it turned out super good. The oyster is fresh and sweet, egg is soft full of flavor. Total worth it to try if you come to Penang to travel.

This is honestly the first time in my life I’ve experienced service like this. I feel compelled to warn others not to come.
The older lady who speaks Chinese was extremely rude. She aggressively told me to pay first before sitting down to eat. While I was making the payment, she stood very close and stared at my phone as I entered the amount and my password, which made me very uncomfortable.
It was extremely hot and I was already feeling unwell and just wanted to eat. After I completed the payment, she suddenly shouted at me loudly, demanding that I show her my screen, and even glared at me. I have never encountered such hostile behavior from a restaurant staff member in my life.
If I hadn’t already paid, I would have walked out immediately. I genuinely do not understand how a restaurant like this operates in Penang. It severely ruined my dining experience and negatively affected my trip!!!DONNOT RECOMMEND ANYONE COME TO THIS RESTAURANT

Cendol cart located in the alley hence it was very hard to find parking. However the service was very fast . The cendol and ais kacang was good, very generous with the fillings and you can request for less sweet. If you want to dine in, you can choose to eat inside the restaurant. For non halal, the restaurant was right behind the cendol cart but for muslim, you need to walk to the 2325 restaurant at the same alley. But for the fried kuetiau, the halal option is at 2325 (not the one who had the michelin) but i still doubtful about that “halal” (maybe it just pork and lard free cause the one who cooked is still chinese). And also the uncle promoted to me to order chee cheong fun (i agree cause I thought it was made from 2325 but then i saw he got the food from the hawker in the non-halal restaurant in front)

This is the best street food so far of my Penang visit. Chendol is nice. Assam laksa is awesome too. But the queue is crazy. Queue for chendol then queue for seats. But they manage well and our experience is smooth. Great experience if weather is nice.
Tips: Parking option nearby Komtar. Those visit TOP can combine this makan place together as it is a short walk across. Highly recommend but shortfalls is parking and also narrow road queue. Food quality is awesome.

First time visiting this place, and it was really chaotic with people sitting in a fully packed area. Had to bear with the lack of comfort during the dining experience. The chee cheong fun lacked flavour, but the oyster omelette was the highlight for me, containing more egg than starch. Chendul was refreshing as usual. It would be great if they could bring back the bowl version to help reduce plastic waste.

It’s convenient to just sit inside the shop, and order through the staff who will then help to place the orders with the individual vendors.
We had chendol, char kway teow, kangkong cuttlefish, and lor bak.
Pay each of the vendor when the food is served.
I liked the lor bak. Chendol was nice and not too sweet.

Extremely crowded at all times. Need to queue patiently for the chendul and also wait for a seat. You can order various dishes. The char kuey teow is light and comes in a small portion. Advisable to order a larger portion. The oyster omelette was overfried. Overall just come to experience it once.
