We had breakfast here as a part of staying in Hotel Balmoral. We had breakfast around 8:30 AM. It was not crowded at all. We were immediately attended to and were seated. There are only 4 options for breakfast- Typical breakfast, omelette, pan cakes and yoghurt with fruits and granola with juice and coffee. The ambience was amazing. For the previous night dinner we looked around historic district and this was the nicest restaurant option for dinner. Highly recommend for dinner.

Eight of us just ate at the restaurant today about 4 pm. It was absolutely delicious. We started with chips and guacamole. That was fantastic! My dish was Argentine Churrasco with fries and vegetables as my sides. I ate it all up. It was so delicious! Everyone was happy with their dishes. It had a wonderful atmosphere and very good kind service.

I visited the restaurant while a guest in the hotel. I only ordered items on the free breakfast menu but was pleased. I forgot tips were already included and left one but no loss.

Don’t do it! Slowest service and the food was weird. Would not go back. After 1 hour, I was served the bottle of San Pellegrino I ordered. There’s no menu of cocktails, they suggested a pina colada, which came 25 minutes later and had the consistency of a thick, bland smoothie. The carrots and celery with ranch that accompany the chicken wings were the puniest shavings of carrot and celery and the ranch was weird too. The celery and carrot sticks were short, limp, and razor thin. It’s like I was served vegetable shavings dipped in weird ranch. A confounding and disappointing experience. Nice ambiance though.

We had a wonderful experience at el Patio del BALMORAL. From the moment we arrived, the service truly stood out. Pablo and Karla were absolutely amazing—both were friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome throughout our visit.

They were knowledgeable about the menu, always checking in to make sure everything was perfect, and their positive attitude really elevated the whole experience. It’s rare to find servers who genuinely care about making your time special, and they definitely did.

Great food, great vibes, and outstanding service. We will definitely be coming back and asking for Pablo and Karla again. Highly recommended!

A lovely setting and scrumptious food! The service was amazing and the kitchen staff awesome! I forgot to inquire before ordering if the dish I wanted included sweet peppers, which I’m allergic to. Our server Fernandito immediately took it away and they prepared the same meal without the peppers – and were so kind about it. Such wonderful hospitality put the meal over the top-we had such a great time!

Perfect casual lunch spot close to shopping and nice hotels. Open to the street for a nice breeze but separated. Wide variety of food.

Our hotel recommended this place for dinner. It was good. I was a little surprised by what I had got for a caprese pizza but it was different but in a good way. I also got the passion fruit cheesecake which was really good. The service was relatively quick. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the local area.

El Patio is a really good casual restaurant right downtown. The front of the restaurant opens too a pedestrian Street so there is great people watching here if you sit upfront. Food is great and they have a large selection of mostly Costa Rican dishes.

Bad food. Chicken pasta was gross. The soup was water with parsley.
