Good Smoke BBQ was formed in 2006 in a bid to destroy the competition at Oinktoberfest in Clarence, NY. Well we didn’t exactly destroy the competition but we didn’t finish last either! What we did do was ignite a love affair with barbecue and the need to perfect every aspect of our cooking with the goal of becoming competitive on the professional barbecue circuit. In the intervening years we have been lucky enough to have many successes on the circuit and want to offer competition level food to our customers. Family owned by Rochester natives Brian and Kelly Wemett.

Solid BBQ spot. My favorite was the bacon wrapped meatballs. They had a really nice Smokey flavor. The ribs were cooked pretty well. Tender and juicy. The bbq sauce on them is tasty. The corn breads great.

We came from out of town came from Canada. We had Sarrah service. She was very good authentic barbeque food. Very very good. I had a specialty sandwich and the wedge salad was an exceptional. Will certainly return if in the area really good experience great food.

Update: I decided to give this place another shot and went with the wing special to explore the menu a bit. The wings were juicy and the rubs were packed with flavor. I was really curious about some of the sauces, but the menu didn’t describe them at all; nothing about whether they were vinegar-based, sweet, or tangy. I didn’t want to interrogate the server about every single one, so I just stuck with my usual butter garlic sauce. I also tried the Cajun rub, which was comforting, slightly sweet, and had a nice little kick. I didn’t get to taste the brisket myself, but my dinner companions mentioned it was incredibly tender. Makes me think my first visit might’ve just been an off night. There is definitely room for redemption here.

The ribs required way more effort than they should have. For these ribs, I really had to use my teeth. And the brisket? It was far from the melt-in-your-mouth texture I was expecting. Sadly, given how much we spent, we ended up throwing away most of the entrees.

The fact that I’m even taking the time to leave a review should tell you everything you need to know. The food? On point. The service? Top tier. The atmosphere? A whole vibe.
We drove all the way from Syracuse to Rochester just to switch it up and try something different—and listen, we were not disappointed. We came for some good barbecue and got exactly that. Definitely worth the drive.

Oh this place is really good. Stopped in around 1 on a Saturday and it was QUIET. I started to second guess our choice for lunch. Glad we stuck it out. Fried pickles were the best we’ve ever had. I had the half -rack of ribs and they were cooked perfect. Their sauces are tasty and not overdone. Their bar is extensive and beer selection is enough to satisfy any pallet. This has been added to our rotation of Rochester restaurants.

Came in for dinner Thursday evening. Sat straight away. Staff was knowledgeable and order was taken promptly. We ordered appetizers (fried pickles and meatballs) large serving and very good. We had variety of dinners ordered between the 5 of us. The pork sandwich was very tender on a toasted bun. The is 6 different sauces to choose from. Atmosphere is nice and has a nice patio.

My Dad and siblings love this place and go often. I tried it for the first time with them last Friday and it was good but not great. The totcho appetizer was the best thing I tried followed by the homemade mashed potatoes and gravy. We sat upstairs and the atmosphere was a bit dark and lackluster but the bar area was nice, with a fireplace.

Update frome a year ago…. back in town.. and was on the must do..went Friday night.. soo good!!! In fact so good we went again Sat. Night with Friends to introduce them to it… Sticky ribs are the best!!! The brisket is amazon and I was pleasantly impressed with the Smoked Turkey!!! Still a rocken place… I will say I could see a difference between chefs from Friday to Saturday
When you walk in its a loud bar! Once upstairs and requesting a back table it much better on this guy with hearing aids!! Food was great!! NO FANTASTIC for the record I do not ever take food home cause I eat what I order… but this being my first time here I found out I ordered a little to much ,… but man oh man it was sooooo good!! Highly recommend trying this place ww will be back!!!

My coworkers have been telling me over and over AND OVER again to try this place and I finally had time today. Boy….. this place was amazing. The food did not disappoint and I will DEFINITELY be coming back. They have several tasty appetizers followed by amazing entrees; from sandwiches, to BBQ plates and even pulled pork tacos. Their desserts are also worth a try.
