Great friendly service. They were crowded and we didn’t have to wait much. We sat at the bar upstairs. It was fun. Yummy coffee. I ordered the corned beef hash. It’s not chucks of corned beef, it’s pulled apart style, which the flavors were over the top! I highly recommend it. My eggs were undercooked but it wasn’t a deal breaker. Wife had hashbrowns and sausage. She loved them. My only issue was that the supervisor was upset because one of the workers had changed the setting in the upstairs AC. I get it, there’s temperature issues, but I don’t need to hear about it while I’m eating. The wait staff never said anything word about it. I only heard it from the supervisor, then my wife heard it again when she went downstairs to use the restroom. It just came across as poor leadership over people busting their buns.

My wife and I were in town for business and googled “best breakfast spots in portland”, and this was the top spot so we said let’s go! The wait for a Sunday at Brunch was only 20 minutes for one of the best rated spot in the city which I felt was no issue. Our server greeted us with so much enthusiasm and upon finding out it was our first time suggested some drinks and a few things on the menu. Everything came out in a timely manner and was hot and fresh! I got the Bayou Benny and my wife created her own omelet and we shared the strawberry cheesecake French toast. BEST. BREAKFAST. WE’VE. EVER. HAD! We travel quite often and try different local restaurants and Bayside will now be on our list of go-tos whenever we are in town or need a place to suggest to friends or family!

My husband and I stopped here during our road trip and it was phenomenal! He got the corned beef hash and I got the florentine Benedict! We shared a blueberry pancake. His corned beef was awesome and I really loved what I chose- the cream sauce on it was sooo good! The potatoes were seasoned wonderfully, and were unique to any other homefries I’ve had before. The pancake was soooo yummy! If we are ever in Portland Maine again, we will be back!

Four of us had brunch here on a recent Thursday morning. There was no wait! Our server was amazing (wish I could remember his name) in making recommendations and describing the food. We ordered the lemon blueberry French toast (for the table), and Mediterranean scramble, and 3 different Benedicts – lobster, Main crab, and florentine. Every dish was the best thing we’ve ever had! Lol The tri-potato home fries were good and we ordered the biscuit as a side for the scramble. It was the best biscuit! The best bite at the table was hands-down that French toast.

Stopped in on a whim, googled this place and boy it didn’t disappoint! That slice of “toast” is the size of a Frisbee, under it the most amazing home fries I’ve ever eaten! Endless cups of coffee amazing staff taking care of us, a true hidden gem in Portland!

We had a great experience here. The breakfast cocktails were made well. The carrot cake pancake was melt in your mouth. The home fries were seasoned just right. Every plate coming out of the kitchen looked delicious. Busy on a Sunday morning about a 20 minute wait but with food this good it makes sense.

As a first timer to the city picking a random place for breakfast can sometimes be a miss. Not here.
When in Maine you have to have lobster with every meal right? I ordered the lobster scramble and the homemade biscuit which I also recommend. Its like a buttermilk biscuit and cornbread made a baby not heavy not light. Delicious with the homemade strawberry jam.
Sat outside on the balcony and had breakfast by myself for most of it so peaceful I was there shortly after opening.
Jade my server was great kept my coffee filled and always smiling.
If your looking for breakfast definitely recommend.

I have lived in Portland for about eight years, and I’ve never felt more welcome by the staff at any restaurant. Every team member we spoke to went above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable and at home. My partner and I sat on their dog-friendly patio with our pup—no issues at all—and they even brought over a water bowl for her!
The cherry on top was that the food was amazing. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Benedict, and my partner got the Lemon Blueberry French Toast. Both were incredible! I could not recommend this place enough. If you want a great atmosphere, delicious food, and exceptional service, Bayside American Café is the place to be.

We stopped by Bayside American Café for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. No reservations, but the wait was only about ten minutes. Service was excellent—Nikko took great care of us.
I had the house-made corned beef hash with three kinds of potatoes, poached eggs, and an english muffin. Generous portion and full of flavor. My wife went with the vegetable benedict, loaded with mushrooms, spinach, tomato, beets, and more. Also delicious—and huge.
We couldn’t resist splitting an order of buttermilk pancakes, which were massive and fluffy, served with real maple syrup. They offer both hot and mild hot sauce at the table. Be warned: the hot is seriously hot, even when mixed with ketchup.
Friendly, filling, and worth the wait. Come hungry. Would come back if in the area again.

Food was great but definitely wish I had more syrup for my pancakes. The sausage was okay, the spicy one had a good kick to it. The pancakes are huge! So order them with caution.
