Omg this place was so good!!! While visiting Alpena we stumbled upon Pompeyos and we were not disappointed. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful. The chips and salsa were delicious as was the homemade hot salsa. Hands down, the best homemade hot salsa that I’ve ever had. It was both spicy and flavorful. The atmosphere of this restaurant was relaxed. For dinner my daughter ordered the Mega Burrito, my son ordered the chicken fingers with fries, my husband ordered the Fajitas Combination, and I ordered the Nachos Pompeyos. Each of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals and would highly recommend them. Add to the delicious, flavorful dishes, the prices are very reasonable. We will definitely be back.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Food was incredible, chips and salsa was next level, margarita was well poured and not too sweet. And the staff are delightful. Even my bottomless pit of a husband was full after his meal. They also have a lovely view of the lake and I am excited to come back in nicer weather for an opportunity to sit outside. It was so good I am literally writing this review from the booth as we pay the bill.

Horrible. Food was made with so much salt we couldn’t eat anything! Vegetables were from a can. Lettuce and cheese was prepackaged. Beef was petrified and rice was hard/undercooked. We could not find our server to fill our waters. Environment was absolutely freezing which made it difficult to enjoy our salty, rotten, meals! Do not recommend!

First time eating here. The service was excellent and the food was very good. Extremely clean and inviting atmosphere. Sauces are all made fresh on site. Would go there again. Beautiful view of the lake with an outdoor dining area and a large, well kept grassy area, with plenty of playground amenities for the kids.

The scenery was really nice eating outdoors. Food was pretty good. Beans and rice could of used more seasoning. The service was good even though it looked like they were understaffed. The value is good for the buck. We will definitely eat there again.

August 2023 – came here on my wife’s birthday. We had some good food and we sat outside in the covered part of the deck. Wonderful view of the water from our location and the playground was close to the restaurant.
The kids meals were good. The chicken was really good.
For the appetizer we ordered the sampler. It was really good and there was a lot of food.
I ordered the combination dinner #1. Two tacos, tostada and enchilada. It was good.
They brought us a side order of chips and salsa. All very good.
Our waitress was awesome and very helpful in what to order.
Overall, I would recommend this place.

Normally this place is awesome. Must of had a new cook yesterday. Seafood enchilades were dry. Chips cold. Was still ok but was disappointed as we travel an hour to come here.

Big shoutout to Pompeyo’s! My Burrito California with steak was massive and delicious (could only finish half!), and the sopapilla with ice cream was the perfect, shareable dessert. Around $25 for all that great food is a win. Plus, the service was excellent—attentive staff and tasty complimentary chips and salsa. Would highly recommend.

My husband and I went with another couple. We all ordered something different. The food didn’t blow us away, but it was ok. Service was good and the server was efficient but not friendly. The atmosphere was fine with h the standard Latin American music and painted murals. Prices were good and servings large.
