Wow, what an experience! The waitress was very attentive. The food was very, very good. I got a combination plate. It was worth every penny. I wish this business much success in the future because they are doing a good job. If I had to critique one thing, it would be about the brown paper towels on the table. They do not absorb like the white dinner napkins you usually get in a restaurant.

The birria tacos are a speciality here so I had to get them. And truly wow! These birria tacos blew my mind! I can’t remember the last time I had a meal that stopped me in my tracks! Just incredible. Service was phenomenal. I highly recommend this place! This is a must-go!

I’ve been a customer of El Jalapeño for a little over three and a half years. My family and I have spent hundreds of dollars here over time because we genuinely enjoyed the food and wanted to support a local business. Until now, I never had a reason to question the environment or the people preparing our meals.

During my most recent visit, while waiting at the front counter for my order, I overheard a comment from the kitchen that left me shocked and uncomfortable. An employee referred to me using a racial slur and followed it with a statement about spitting in my food. The words were clear, direct, and impossible to mistake.

After years of being a respectful, loyal customer, hearing something like that made me feel disrespected, unsafe, and deeply disappointed. No one should ever have to question whether their food is being handled with care or whether they’re being dehumanized behind the scenes.

Because of this incident, I can no longer support this establishment. This will be the last of my family’s money that goes to El Jalapeño. Respect is the bare minimum, and once that trust is broken, it cannot be restored.

I’m sharing this experience not out of anger, but out of principle. Customers deserve to know when this type of behavior is allowed to happen in a business, and I deserve to speak up about what I experienced.

I don’t typically write reviews for restaurants, but this place was excellent. I’ve been here twice, and the food portions were generous, the sauces were very good and home-made, and the food was so tasty. The service was quick, and our waitress was very attentive and working very hard to get all of the orders out. So far, my favorite Mexican restaurant in the Metro Detroit area with very fair pricing.

We came for lunch on a Saturday. There was no wait. The place was clean and spacious. Our waitress was attentive and engaging. We ordered a few things to try. The fajitas and birria pizza were excellent. The burrito was huge. The service was excellent at the counter too. I grabbed a piece of cheesecake on the way out and that was also very good. We got a taco dinner to go and they were good too. A little on the pricey side, 120.00 including tip for 4 plates, 2 drinks and one dessert. I’d go back again though, it was that good.

This is my go-to place for al pastor tacos. Best service, reasonable prices, and always a clean, positive atmosphere.

The other day was the first time I visited El Jalapeno. It was pretty good, generally speaking. The portions are quite big and filling.

I ordered the birria tacos and thought they tasted quite good. The shredded beef had great flavor. They were kind of greasy though.

The rice was very good. It was moist and flavorful. The beans were a little runny.

Keep in mind that this place does not serve alcohol.

While there was some cool art work on the wall, the place wasn’t really decorated and seemed a little bare. There was a foosball table there though.

Overall, the food here is good and worth trying. It’s probably best for carryout though. The portions are also quite large and priced appropriately.

Ate here today for the first time. The place is very clean, the food was delicious, and the service was great. Portions are large and the prices are reasonable. I had the barria dinner and a side of guacamole for $20, and it was well with it. Feels good to be able to give such a good review! Keep up the good work. I’ll definitely be back again.

The establishment itself look new or recently redone but it did not give a mexican restaurant vibe. The waitress was friendly and nice and greeted us right away. The food itself was decent. We will probably be back for more.
