The thought of Mr. Pizza began way back in 1963 when Mark Fulton’s dad was in the kitchen putting together a pizza from a box of Chef Boyardee. While perfecting this at home, the thought came, “We could make this a business…” The Mr. Pizza restaurant opened in 1963, and was operated in the small shopping center. Mr. Pizza continued as a family run business all the way though 2019. Mark was busy as an up-and-coming pizza restaurant owner, and that’s when Jane came into the picture. She was a waitress at the South Store, and it wasn’t long before the two linked up and started dating. Championship Dining, the Schoville/Zubay run restaurant group, decided to preserve the small, family-run pizza tradition and took over as the new owners.
Informal eatery providing generous servings of familiar Italian & American comfort fare.

They had a lot of options on the menu and I ordered online which was really slick. They also have an app you can order through that I’ve seen a lot of restaurants are heading to!
The location is easy to spot off West Circle Drive in Northwest Rochester!
They had ample parking, the staff was friendly and helpful as I waited to pickup my pizza. I showed up a little bit early and was able to take a seat for a minute.
I bought three pizzas and garlic cheesy bread for some clients and took it with!
Would definitely recommend trying Mr. Pizza out when you’re in town!
Our service was crazy slow. We came in at 11:10am and by the time we left it was 1:06pm. We waited a long time for someone to bring us a menu after we were seated. We had dessert and drink menu, but not food menu. She finally brought them and drinks. We then waited over 30 minutes for her to take our order. We selected 2 pizzas for our group of three.
Took about 25 minutes to make the pizza as one would expect. First pizza came out. The second pizza was a good 10 minutes behind. The other person shared ours. But we got the thin crust and it was super burnt on all the edges. I wouldn’t recommend this type of crust.
Finally the other pizza arrived. It was okay. It was the chicken Alfredo pizza on New York style crust. The crust was MUCH better than the thin burnt crust on our first pizza.
We waited about 25 minutes after we ate to get a bill & box. It was loud and just an unappealing atmosphere. I’m guessing like all restaurants, they are short staffed. The waitress was kind, but totally unaware of our needs. We spent more time waiting then anything. The three of us happened to be off work when we visited. I’m unsure if you can get in & out quickly over a lunch unless you buy the pre-made pizza and drink special.
The pizza was served hot. Lots of fresh toppings- nothing frozen or canned. The burnt crust was a big let down for me. The milk shake was huge, cold and delicious- but made with ice milk vs real ice cream.
The Chicken wings are a masterpiece — juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside — and the Mozzarella sticks are pure magic, melting in your mouth like golden cheesy bliss.
Service is beyond excellent; the staff are exceptionally kind, greeting you with genuine smiles and making sure you’re comfortable from the moment you walk in until you leave. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making you feel right at home, with little touches that turn your visit into something unforgettable.
In short, this is an experience that exceeds all expectations, and I dare anyone to try it without falling in love from the very first visit! Highly recommended and definitely my number one choice every time ❤️
