This spot was recommended to us for sushi. The food quality is very good, but prices are not modest. Expect to pay quite a bit depending on what you order. Every restaurant is a product for a price. In my opinion, the price at Roka is considerably higher than the food experience. Put simply – I’ve had better sushi for less cost. As to service – hands down it was excellent. Really excellent! Atmosphere inside was absurdly noisy, so we chose to eat on the patio where it was more quiet. They had a nice, attractive bar, but we did not get a chance to try it. In sum, I can’t recommend Roka unless you want to splurge and check it out for yourself.

My wife and I have come here numerous times and we decided to bring our 2-month newborn for the first time for a Friday night dinner and it was an amazing date night experience with the 3 of us.

The service here is always amazing and we always get a 7 piece nigiri sushi each and steak combo (Australian Wagyu Ribeye is the best!) along with several appetizers (Wagyu beef dumplings + Pork Belly). You truly can’t go wrong with anything here, as this place has the best robata grill for a sushi restaurant in Scottsdale so if you’re craving a variety of things, then Roka Akor is the place to be!

It was an amazing time. I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while now and I’m glad I made the choice to go. The hamachi crudo and black cod were absolutely fantastic. The filet is very unique and melts in your mouth. I highly recommend checking this place out for top grade sushi and steak in Scottsdale.

Everything was great at NYE. We sat at the bar but still received top notch service from bartender. Food were good quality. Serving was fast. It’s not cheap but definitely worth the splurge on NYE. Had a wonderful time there!

The black cod is the best!

Came during chef week and enjoyed the prix fix menu, which started with scallop crudo, and we added veggie tempura. They were both unexpectedly unique and flavors were amazing. I have never had tasting salt with my tempura, but it was a great addition. I chose the filet mignon option, which was exquisite. We ended with a dessert of bread pudding, which was tasty, but our portion hadn’t been cooked thru and the bread was soggy…but not enough to worry about sending back. I also tried the sake flight, which was alot if fun. Wait staff was friendly and attentive.

I came during the Arizona restaurant week and I found their food, service, and ambiance to be all exceptional. Wagyu steak and miso black cod were amazing. I ended up ordering some nigiri and they didn’t disappoint. My favorite was the toro nigiri with foie gras and caviar. What a treat that was! Their chocolate lava cake was a great finishing touch. This place has a huge bar counter area where you can watch the staff cook dishes. I didn’t see any yakitori on their menu but I think it will be really entertaining if they offered that.

Beautiful atmosphere and great food. Our waitress didn’t seemed interested in serving us since we didn’t order their New Year’s Eve special, but still a great date night experience

This place leaves you wanting for nothing. The food is superb, especially the truffle fries (unexpected for the cuisine) and the green tea tart. They are super attentive and never let you water get half way empty. This is surely to become a regular spot for me and my family.

Food is one of the things my husband and I are absolutely willing to splurge on and for his 40th birthday I thought we’d try somewhere new. Roka Akor exceeded our expectations – the omakase with Japanese waygu option was a phenomenally put together series of courses. The butterfish with pesto, pork belly, miso corn, and the waygu were big standouts but I also want to call out the shishitos too so really it was all worth eating a second time.

The beverage menu was well rounded and the sake flight was a lot of fun. The pours of sake were a nice amount for me to have a bit and my husband to figure out which he wanted a full pour of. Our server walked me through two drinks I was between and my lychee martini was great. They had some fun looking dessert offerings but we settled on a nice plum sake to finish the meal.

The service was excellent as well. Fully unpretentious, completely attentive, and well educated on all dishes any staff member was accessible if we needed them. We also really appreciated that we could have an expensive meal (or expensive to us) and not have an overly high pressure dress code.

I would recommend Roka Akor if you’re looking for a nice dinner off the standard menu but I would also recommend it if you’re looking to get a little more rowdy with the omakase. Really appreciate the experience tonight, we will be back again.
