We had such a wonderful time here and everything from the food to the service was great. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere felt warm and relaxed, making it a great spot for both small gatherings and larger groups. The place itself felt like one of those cozy cabin restaurants you’d find up near Mount Hood, with lots of pictures hanging on the walls and a nostalgic, welcoming vibe that makes you want to stay a little longer.

We ordered a variety of dishes to share. The ones that stood out the most were the fish and chips, the fish tacos, and the bacon cheeseburger. Each plate was served hot, and full of flavor. The onion rings were really good too, crispy on the outside and soft inside. You can really tell they put care into their ingredients.

After finishing our meal, we stopped by the bakery and coffee shop located right next to the restaurant, and it was the perfect way to end the visit. Their lattes were smooth and rich, and the pastries looked and tasted amazing. Everything is baked fresh in-house, which makes a big difference in quality. There’s plenty of seating both inside and outside, and parking was easy to find, which is always a plus.

Overall, it was a great experience from start to finish. Whether you are coming in for a full meal or just want to relax with a coffee and something sweet, this is a place worth stopping by if you are in the neighborhood.

It’s an old-fashioned restaurant that could really improve the quality of its food and could use a remodel. The turkey dinner could have been much better: the turkey itself was too salty, the mashed potatoes tasted pre-made, the broccolini was tough, and the stuffing also much too salty. The restaurant itself is a bit dark and has an odd smell. I don’t think I will go back. At least our waiter was very friendly, even if it took a bit for them to come over and get our order.

We had on good advice to eat here, we were not disappointed. We ordered the Yankee Pot Roast, the lite plate. Perfect portions, very tasty, service was wonderful. Thank you, for the excellent service and fun waitress.

Tollgate Inn Restaurant – 4 Stars
Stopped in for a family meal and overall had a good experience at the Tollgate Inn Restaurant. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming.

We tried a variety of dishes. The pancakes were good, although the syrup wasn’t very appealing. The cheeseburgers were a bit on the bland side, but the tater tots were a hit. The shrimp and grits had a sauce that wasn’t very enjoyable, but the shrimp and grits themselves were well-cooked and flavorful. The Belgian waffle was decent, though nothing exceptional.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the cinnamon rolls — warm, sweet, and definitely a highlight of the meal.

Overall, it was a solid meal with a few standout items and a few misses. Would definitely consider coming back, especially for the cozy atmosphere and classic diner feel.

When I first moved to Sandy, the Tollgate Inn Restaurant was the place to take visitors. A bit expensive, but fun atmosphere with collections of antiques on the walls- everything from movie memorabilia to candy in the 1920’s. Plus their portions were in the line of a six egg omelette. My mom and I went today for the first time in quite a while. The prices there haven’t changed much, but now I spend just as much on a single meal at McDonald’s or Taco Bell. Their portions are still big (a little smaller but not much) and the atmosphere is still fun.

Nice down home, small town atmosphere with friendly service.
Food is good, they’ve got a lounge and a fresh bakery on the West end of the building.
And if your into the poker machines, they’ve got them in the lounge and bakery area
Highly recommend even if just traveling through to go to the mountain or whatnot.
Had the New York steak and tator when I was there, worth the money.

I went in with my family and it was not busy the waiter took 20 mins to come to our table and take our order. Then the real wait was for our food it was almost a 30 minute wait with no communication about what was taking so long. And to make things worse we saw other tables who came after us get their food straight away. The waiter finally came to bring our food but stated there was a wait for the other dishes we ordered. When we finally were done eating it was another long wait for our check even though our server said she’ll be back to get it. She never came back so we went to the front to pay. As I had stated it was not busy so I don’t know why it took a long time to be served, to get our food & to pay. I live locally and usually like coming here but unfortunately after the service we received I will not be back.

This is a nice restaurant to stop by, if you’re on your way to, or heading back from Portland! It has a fair amount of foods to choose from. Mainly basic dishes, but still really good. They have a really good bakery, next door. If you’re looking for something to eat while heading to, or from Portland, I might recommend it.

As usual, great service. Friendly and prompt. Had the Cajun Shrimp and grits, wonderful flavor. Kudos to the chef on this one. I was impressed! It was nice to see a southern classic on the menu, and it didn’t disappoint. I will be back for more.

Ive eaten all over the country, folks. Used to run two restaurants and my wife was a state award winning baker. Ive gone to the Tollgate for over 20 years and admit that they have had some down times when changing bakers but no matter what its always been good. So its not gone from good to bad but rather incredible to good and back a few times. OH THEY ARE DIALED IN AGAIN NOW. Went the today for a mocha and maybe a muffin and ended up with two boxes to take home to Portland. Sadly–(for the food not me!) Not all survived the trip and Im sure those calories are going to show. There bakery items are SO good and priced SO well that I dont know why they dont sell out withing the first 2 hours of the day. Sandy is a small town though. My family forced the boxes from me and the growling, snapping and grabbing was like a pack of wolves with a rabbit. Sorry for the imagery. Have a daughter who wont eat chocolate and she even glommed them. Humor aside—Tollgate could KILL IT in any expensive area and compete with all the best. Its 45 miles from me–Im driving back tomorrow. Not kidding. I dont give them 5 stars—I give them SIX NOM NOMS
