Every time I come here around 6:30-7pm, there’s a long line, so I suggest going when they open. Their sushi and fish are all super fresh. I HIGHLY recommend getting their HOUSE and BOX sushi! They are so delicious!! As well as their salmon sashimi (I didn’t take a picture). They also have great service!

We ordered some specials that the server displayed to us on a tablet.
For the assorted Sushi, the meckarel was great and there was no greasy fishy smell with it. And the bluefin tuna melted right away with the bites.
My favourites were the Tuna Crudo and the Spider Roll, and their ginger was exceptional. The restaurant is small but charming, with a lovely atmosphere, and the staff are very attentive.

This place has a long wait, they don’t take reservations, and they won’t call you when your table is ready so you have to wait outside until they say your name.

Once you’re seated the service is fast and they’re very attentive. They frequently refilled our water, cleared our table, and asked if there was anything else we needed or wanted to order.

Their main selection for rolls and nigiri are pretty affordable, but their special menu can be quite pricey (probably due to the price of the ingredients) for items such as uni, bluefin, etc.

The uni nigiri here was really good, one of the better ones I’ve tried. I also tried their “Hokkaido Gunkan” which was alright but I would have preferred a normal ikura nigiri.

Overall it was a good experience and I want to come back to try more!

If you know, you know: the line at Toshi Sushi is legendary. Snagging a seat in the first sitting feels like hitting the jackpot! We hopped in line at 4:15 PM (15 mins before opening) and just made the cut.

The highlights:
1. Assorted Sashimi: 15 pieces of pure freshness. The texture was incredibly buttery–easily some of the best in Vancouver.
2. Chicken Karaage: Massive portions and surprisingly juicy.
3. Spider & Salmon/Avocado Rolls: Classic, well-executed, and absolute perfection. They use less rice using more quality ingredients.
4. Berry Yuzu Ice Cream: The ultimate closer. Tart, refreshing, and the perfect “not-too-sweet” dessert.

The space is small yet cozy! The staff is great sharing the fresh/daily specials and providing the regular menu.

Vancouver sushi at its finest and authentic. We’ll definitely be back (and lining up early again!).

I’d heard countless praises about Toshi Sushi, so I finally decided to try it. After about a 40-minute wait (they don’t take reservations), I got a seat. The nigiri stood out even more than the sashimi, and the specials were excellent so I’d recommend those. Prices are high, even by Vancouver standards, and while the food and atmosphere were nice, I wish the servers hadn’t rushed us or kept pushing for extra orders. It’s hard to enjoy a $7 uni when your plate gets taken away so abruptly and asked for something else. Overall, it was very good, but perhaps my expectation was too high. At this price point and wait time, I did wish for something more exceeding.

I ordered from the special menu on the wall, which the server showed us on an iPad with photos.

The spider roll was so good! I heard it’s a limited dish, so you have to order fast. The miso soup was also great.

We arrived at 16:15 and were the first ones there.

Great authentic sushi restaurant, contender for best sushi in Vancouver. Everything was super fresh and the service was good. Highlight was easily the salmon. Prices overall super reasonable considering the high quality!

The nigiri was excellent — the sashimi, shrimp, fish, and rice were perfectly balanced in both taste and texture. And their chicken karaage was just as delicious. Definitely coming back for another dinner!

《 A MOUNT PLEASANT CLASSIC 》

If you’re like me, you have probably walked by East 16th and Main St and wondered what warranted the long lines in front of Toshi Sushi.

At Toshi’s you can find quality seafood on a rotating menu featuring fresh and seasonal fish. You have your bluefin tuna, your uni, and all of the other classic sushi options. So delicious!

This is a very small japanese-run restaurant with amazing quality and food craftsmanship. The specials of fish from japan are delicious. They have their own self-signin waitlist and you have to wait outside. Well worth the wait.
