This place is truly a gem in plain sight. I’ve lived 15 minutes away for most my life and have only just now tried them out.
I’ve been twice and the servers are always kind and responsive. So far everything I’ve tried has been worthwhile. The cheese fries (one of my favorite foods btw) were hot and well put together with onions and bacon. I can also recommend the prime rib sandwich and Amarillo chicken!
Also the star of the menu is by far the fried mushrooms! Some of the best I’ve had. They are meaty, crunchy on the outside and not mushy at all.
The sides looked kinda basic to me so I opted for a house salad both times.
Some people may be off put by the prices, but I think it’s on par with what should be expected from an independent steakhouse.

Our church group visited for a holiday party. Nice room, excellent wait staff and food on par with most chain style restaurants. I highly recommend the fried mushrooms. The Philly was okay, better if you enjoy a spicy take on the sandwich. All in all, pretty good relaxed spot.

Menu, food and service not close to what it use to be. Baked potatoes are always super small and day old and reheated in microwave. Filet mignon is 40 bucks and way over priced. No more bacon wrapped scallops. Never can get bread. Restaurant been going down hill for 5 years and the staff is minimal and seem to not care if they have business or not. Feels like a convenience store as though you are just a shopper for a fast buy. I live right down the street and been coming here for over 20 years. I don’t like to complain but this restaurant is pitiful and should just shut down and go out of business. I hate coming here and I’ve made my mind up to complain and stop doing business at a run down outfit. It’s a disgrace to the owner that passed away. Sorry about complaining but this is real. Use to love this place. Not any more.

I recently dined at Texas Border Grill and came away impressed — it’s one of those spots that balances hearty meals, relaxed vibe, and real comfort without trying too hard. Walking in, you get a sense of casual but warm energy: it doesn’t feel like a stodgy steakhouse, but more like a friendly neighborhood grill where folks come to enjoy good food and good company.

I ended up ordering a steak dinner with a side of grilled shrimp (because why not treat yourself when the menu offers it). The steak was cooked just right — tender, properly seasoned, with that satisfying, slightly charred flavor you hope for. The shrimp had a nice smoky‑grilled taste and paired well with the sides. Portions felt generous, so I left feeling full but not stuffed.

What really struck me was how many different types of dishes they offer — from steaks to seafood to burgers and more — which makes this place flexible whether you’re craving a heavy meal or something lighter. That variety means you could go with friends or family, all pick different kinds of meals, and still everyone gets something they like.

Service was solid. The staff seemed friendly and attentive, without being pushy — checking in just enough, making sure drinks were topped up, and giving enough time between courses to enjoy the meal without feeling rushed. The atmosphere stayed relaxed but comfortable, even as more people trickled in.

To me, Texas Border Grill delivers exactly what a good grill‑style restaurant should: quality food, fair portions, and a welcoming, unpretentious dining environment. If I’m looking for a dependable steak or seafood dinner with a friendly vibe and no fuss, I’d go back.

The food just isn’t great, ESPECIALLY for the price. I can get a more tender and flavor filled Ribeye from Outback with 2 sides for $30 compared to their smaller, chewy, mediocre Ribeye, with mashed potatoes that aren’t even mashed good and have a poor consistency for $45. This isn’t the first time I’ve eaten here I’ve given them the benefit of the doubt and have eaten multiple times and have the same experience so at least they are consistent I guess. Not horrible, but just not worth their prices. If you’re looking for average alright food, want to be waited on quickly, and don’t mind spending more money on lesser food then this place is fine. If I spend $40 I expect a Ribeye to better than this though. And I make mashed potatoes better than here it’s not hard ‍♂️

Best server. She was so sweet and definitely took care of us. Had filet mignon, wasn’t the best I have ever had but was pretty good. The key lime pie was best I ever had. I would have to give it A+

Service was absolutely amazing!!! The Firecracker shrimp were awesome.. I also had the 12oz Ribeye with veggies and twice smashed potatoes.. the flavor was very tasty but it was supposed to be a medium. It was well done and extremely tough. Overall pretty good experience!

Me and my wife went to Texas restaurant for lunch today. The establishment was clean and the waitress name Kaytlynn was very friendly and professional. She kept our glass full of tea and kept checking on us while we were eating. The atmosphere is family oriented and will continue to come here to eat. Ask for our waitress Kaytlynn she will take care of you. Hands down!!

Had the Amarillo Chicken which was smothered in Chipotle Cream sauce. Chicken was fork-tender and delicious. Came with macaroni and cheese which was good, but reminded me of Stouffer’s, except there was no baked crust on top. This is right on my way home from work so I will stop in again and try something different.

Tried the black & bleu burger and cheese grits, both were good. Grits a little soupy but maybe because I let it sit with the cheese on top.

The folks here are great, very friendly and helpful. We’ll be back!
