My wife and 3 kids went to eat there and the lady added a gratuity. We did not get our check until we finally got up to leave, the server seemed more interested in doing her side work to go home then her guest. So we were walking up to the front to pay and she finally printed the check I went to the front and paid with out looking at the check cause I was not informed she added her own tip. So I handed the cashier my ticket without really reading it, then I tipped another $15 on top of the $17 she added. He service wasn’t the worst I’ve ever had but it sure wasn’t $30 service. she only checked on us once, we had to get up to get owe own to go boxes and had to finally get up to walk out before getting our check.

We tried their breakfast here for the first time and it was very good. We enjoyed it. I had the steak and eggs and it was very good and I had a side of biscuit gravy and it was a big portion, but it was very good and our waiter he was very good too and very nice so come on down and check out their breakfast menu. The only thing was the bathroom is so tiny. I wasn’t there and just when I was walking out a lady opened the door and hit my arm really hard and hurt me . So they really need to upgrade your bathroom to a bigger wheelchair accessible bathroom because if you have a walker or a wheelchair, you will not fit under bathrooms.. other than that the restaurant is great

I recently dined at Porter’s Restaurant and Steakhouse and had the rack of ribs—absolutely delicious! The meat was tender and packed with flavor. The customer service was attentive and friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable. Prices were somewhat reasonable considering the quality of the food. Overall, a great spot for a satisfying meal. I’d definitely recommend it!

Stopped here for a quick pre birthday lunch. Happened upon this quaint restaurant off the beaten path during the pandemic. Everything we’ve ordered thus far has been delicious. The salad bar is what drew us here and I must say it is absolutely delightful with a wonderful selection of fresh veggies, fruit and ready made side dishes such as pasta salads, potato salad and ambrosia salad to name a few. The service here is on par, everyone we’ve met has been friendly & accommodating. The atmosphere has a rustic charm to it which is inviting.

I ordered the Surf and Turf, Mom had the Blackened Catfish and Dad had the Pan Seared Salmon.

The food was amazing. They had one of the best salad bars I have ever seen. All kinds of fruit and veggies and it included a couple of soup selections as well.

They had all you can eat meat options as well. You could eat off of the meat bar or order off of the menu.

The jalapeno popper appetizers were terrific. Their cowboy chili was amazing and their brisket melted in your mouth. It may be the best brisket i have ever had. The house bbq sauce really set the brisket apart.

If that wasn’t enough our waitress Lavana I believe, was a great waitress with a sharp witt and a great sense of humor. She took a great meal and turned it into a great experience.

My food waa okay. I enjoyed the salad bar. Was especially busy this afternoon. A relative loved this place and recommended it. My daughter really enjoyed her Porterhouse steak and that made was great.

This is a great place to bring your grandparents. (But maybe grab a snack before you come.)

The service is excellent, and there’s a nostalgic “Yee haw” vibe to the atmosphere and decor. The handmade stained glass booth dividers are gorgeous!

Plus there’s like a 90% chance that if you bring your grandparent here, they’ll run into someone they know!

There’s even a buffet, which not many places have anymore. (Personally, they’re not for me, but old people seem to love ’em!)

The food… is perfect for the target audience, I guess. I’ve been here a couple times, and the food was never *bad*, but I wouldn’t say it’s good. Consistently mediocre, I guess. I found it mushy, bland, and heavily salted. But that’s exactly what old people like. So, they know their target audience!

The BBQ sauce is mostly ketchup. The brisket was tender – but didn’t have much flavor. The ketchup sauce didn’t help. But I took the leftovers home, added some real BBQ sauce, and it was pretty good!

The Mac and Cheese was the opposite – rich cheesy flavor, but with the consistency of runny soup.

Avoid the Reuben! It’s hard to get a *good* Reuben this far West, but this was the saddest one I’ve had yet. The cheese wasn’t melted, and it was slathered with way too much dressing – which made the whole sandwich soggy and falling apart. I could see the sourkraut, but I couldn’t taste it. The pimentos and sweet pickle were bizarre additions that just made things worse. It’s like an AI tried to draw a picture of a Reuben just based on a scene from Law and Order with a deli in the background.

The house specialty Texas succotash… well, it makes you appreciate New Mexico calibacitas! The charred corn has a nice flavor, but the squash is overcooked into mush. Again though, that’s just how old people like it!

So definitely bring your grandparents here, but don’t necessarily bring your appetite.

Was excited to try the salad bar, but after walking past it, decided it was safer not too. The food is heavy on grease and light on quality. There were a lot of dirty tables that took forever to get cleaned. While nothing about our meal was bad, nothing was good.

Our first time there. We both had 8oz ribeye dinners. Food was excellent and prepared to our liking. Portions were good. The atmosphere was lively, yet not overly boisterous.
Our waitress (Dechelle) was very attentive but not hovering. Smiling and cheerful. Kept drinks full and answered questions with ease and knowledge.

I highly recommend Porters if you are in or near Farmingto, NM.
