Home of the Monster German Weiner. The year was 1980. Ronald Reagan took office as president. The Rubik’s Cube made its debut. And a quirky, German deli and restaurant called Mr. Dunderbak’s opened in the Regency Square Mall in Jacksonville, Fla. In the 1990s, the Zarkas re-opened as European Street Cafe. Today, E. Street encompasses three restaurants throughout Jacksonville: Riverside, San Marco and Jacksonville Beach. E. Street remains one of the most popular and beloved restaurants in Northeast Florida, with 100+ menu items and one of the most extensive beer selections in the city. Not only is it a place where everybody knows your name, but it’s one where they know your drink (and your sandwich, if you’re a regular).

Stacked sandwiches, desserts & a huge beer selection star at this comfy German-inspired local chain.

First time and the place is awesome. The atmosphere is very inviting. We had the half soup and sandwich (corned-beef, tomato bisque). I had the warm brie with fruits, pretzels and almonds. Wife had the Italian Lemon Cream Cake which was excellent. The cake was light and the cream was creamy and tasty, not heavy on the lemon.

We love E street we go almost weekly. It’s always good food, but if Miguel is in the kitchen there is a special touch. You know they treat their staff right as most have been there for years. The desserts taste like sin. The beer selection is always varied and if you’re not eating the beer cheese soup, and the German potato salad you’re living life wrong. Below is the Ciabatta and Boursin appetizer. With a roast beef and boursin slider.

We stumbled upon this eclectic little spot that’s part restaurant, part bar, and part gift store—and honestly, it’s such a fun and charming find! The atmosphere is super cute and cozy, perfect for hanging out with friends or just enjoying a laid-back meal.

I had one of their salads and it was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully put together. The menu has a lot of tempting options, and the desserts looked heavenly. We didn’t get a chance to try them this time, but we’re already planning our next visit just for that!

Between the tasty food, the creative decor, and the unique gift shop section, this place has such a special vibe. Highly recommend checking it out!

Suffering from food poisoning from this restaurant(it was the only thing my girlfriend and I ate that day besides some eggs and bread we cooked for breakfast which was purchased from the grocery store the same day). We went in on 10/02 around 5pm, had plenty of leftovers that we ate more of around 10pm. Woke up between 5-7am with my stomach bloated and hard and ran to the bathroom to violently vomit and tore my esophagus(didn’t even know that was possible). Later I called the restaurant and asked for the manager which happened to be the man who answered the phone. Once he realized it was a problem call about food poisoning, rather than offering his sympathies he quickly became defensive and tried to write me off saying that they sell these food items that were in my order all the time and he would’ve had “40 calls” about it already. First of all, it just happened so maybe I’m the first one to call. Secondly, I understand his reasoning and his position because I’m a manager of a restaurant myself, but there’s a certain level of respect you must have even if it’s shaky situation. Sometimes you must give the guest the benefit of the doubt and offer them a refund. In fact, not only did he not offer me one, but when I requested one for the food and asked him not to refund the tip. The server is most likely not at fault. He denied me saying, “I will not, I don’t know if it was our food that is making you sick.” Today I’m realizing that it may have been the American potato salad(it smelled and tasted kind of sour, but I thought it was supposed to be like that). I’m wondering if that item even shows up on our ticket being it was a premium side so they missed it during their investigation. That and the hummus deluxe are the only things that my girlfriend and I shared in our order. The veggies and hummus we order every time so I find it hard to believe it was that unless someone didn’t wash their hands as a form of cross contamination. Staphylococcus aureus, Clostridium perfringens, and Salmonella are possible contaminants in potatoes that aren’t kept at proper temperatures.

NOTE: the owner happened to email me back to apologize for his manager’s actions and gave me a “full refund” while I was writing this review which is the only reason I’m changing it from 1 star to 2 stars. I hope that doesn’t mean he took the server’s tip away as it, again, was most likely not her fault. Maybe if the manager who was on the phone with me didn’t block my number he could be the one to contact me back to genuinely apologize and I’ll deeply consider changing this review.

Food and service was excellent! Atmosphere can be a little noisy, but it was very festive with decor and holiday decorations. Great vegetarian/vegan options.

Hands down the best culinary experience I’ve had in ages. Whoever is baking those desserts needs an award, or at least raise. The Italian lemon cake had us both finding ways of convincing each other to stop by there again, as if thirst or a restroom stop had anything to do with it. Daddy needs that cake. The cookies, insane, the sandwiches, next level. To say that the service matched the love and care that went into the cuisine is the highest complement I can muster. Ill be driving back from nc for more.

We decided to stop by this cafe and that was the best decision made that day. Tiana sat us down and gave us superb service, great food, and a friendly demeanor. We will 100% come back and suggest this gem to our friends and family. Also, the Monster German Wiener is as good as it sounds.

I have been to this location a few times before. Decided to go here for lunch. Parking was slightly difficult to find, but after having to wait for a couple of minutes I did managed to find a parking space. The service was good today, and they were slightly busy in there.
