We celebrated a friend’s birthday at Cantina Monarca and it truly exceeded our expectations. We started with flights of margaritas, which were fun, flavorful, and a perfect way to kick off the night.

The ceviche was incredibly fresh and vibrant, and the Wagyu tacos for our main course were absolutely outstanding—rich, tender, and packed with flavor. The atmosphere made it a great spot for a celebration, and the whole experience felt special from start to finish.

Five stars for sure!

Cantina Monarca is an excellent find in Bellevue, especially if you’re looking for great food at an affordable price with satisfying portion sizes. For the quality and location, the pricing is very reasonable, making it a place you can come back to often without feeling like it’s a splurge.

The tacos are truly the star of the menu. They’re perfectly seasoned, incredibly flavorful, and clearly made with care. Each taco is well-balanced, from the protein to the toppings, and every bite is packed with bold, delicious flavor. You can tell the ingredients are fresh, and the seasoning really brings everything together without being overpowering

Portions are generous, so you definitely get your money’s worth, whether you’re ordering tacos or other dishes on the menu. The atmosphere is lively yet comfortable, making it a great spot for a casual lunch, dinner with friends, or even a relaxed night out. Service is friendly and efficient, which adds to the overall positive experience.

If you’re in the Bellevue area and craving flavorful tacos, good portions, and fair prices, Cantina Monarca is absolutely worth checking out. It’s the kind of place that leaves you satisfied and already planning your next visit ✨

Solid tacos, the sea bass and Wagyu tacos were great. Wish it came with salsa for each.

The chips and guac were decent but wish there was more guac and it was seasoned more.

The drinks were good too, loved the idea of the flight.. but the margaritas could have been 10% stronger and my favorite was the smoke and spice one.

I loved our waiter though, he was very attentive and checked on us often but was very informative.

View from the end of the bar. I ordered the salad that had roasted corn, and candied pumpkin seeds & added chicken. Wow! The flavor was incredible! I also ordered the sweet potato side dish, it wasn’t my favorite but it was still delicious because of the sauce which made it tasty! I would definitely come back for this salad.

I was dining by myself and was sat at the end of the bar. I didn’t know at the time but this is where employees pick up drinks, so it was a little busy for me being I was by myself. I was fine this time because I needed a quick bite but next time I would request somewhere else if I was a lone again or this seating placement is fine with someone else.

Overall great place, friendly staff, mouthwatering flavors and would dine here again. Especially given the fact this place is 100% Gluten Free! Amazing

Nice presentation and a friendly vibe with visually appealing food. However, the overall experience didn’t meet expectations.

It felt like the restaurant mainly targets date-night customers, where questioning prices can feel awkward. We were recommended items and add-ons without clear pricing, which makes it inconvenient if you’re hoping for a return experience.

The food quality didn’t match the prices, especially the meat, which didn’t feel or taste like high-quality cuts.

I also noticed a no-show reservation fee charged per person, which was only removed after I called to ask about it.

Overall, the atmosphere is nice and the food looks good, but between unclear pricing, average food quality, and hidden charges, it wasn’t worth the time or cost. We would have had a better experience elsewhere.

Nut allergy friendly: Only one dessert has nuts according to our waitress.

TL;DR: Reservation definitely recommended. People eating here might be out of my tax bracket. The food is good, and the service is great as long as you’re still ordering.

We got here around 5:15 and they could not seat a table of six. Ended up waiting for someone for a while and actually got seated around 5:30 out of luck.

The atmosphere is very upscale, with a nice view of the Bellevue Christmas lights (if they’re still up). Menu prices are…absurdly high.

I had an El Rey Taco (4/5). The taco itself was quite good, but for $12 for something I ate in 2-3 bites, I can’t justify going back. If anything, what I paid for was this hilarious photo of a gold hairclip holding together a taco, which I will happily take back and show to people in Texas while eating $1 tacos that are twice the size.
My table got several other tacos and said they were quite good, highlighting the chicken tacos as very good. We ordered the Chips & Salsa (2/5) which came with a comedically low amount of salsa, which we increased to a Trio (4/5) which I would say came with a more reasonable amount of chips and salsa, but definitely not an excessive amount and there were no refills on chips. The orange sauce was my favorite.

The staff were polite and good with water refills up until we declined dessert, after which we were mostly only checked up on to pour the last of water pitchers and give us a side eye to leave.

Lastly, the waitress said she would validate my parking in the nearby garage (very easy to park and go up the elevator) but when I was trying to leave, they said that the validation was invalid. So whatever they did, didn’t work. I had to show my receipt at the restaurant to get out without paying, which was incredibly annoying.

Definitely did not know what to expect as this place had mixed reviews but I had to try for myself and had a really a great experience—our service, and food exceeded all of our expectations! I would highly recommend!! I tried their traditional guac, salsa and chips as part of our appetizer, as well as their ceviche de hamachi (so incredibly delicious!). As main entree I ordered their Wagyu Chingon gourmet tacos with a side of rice, and to drink I had their zero-proof Jamaica hibiscus which was really good!! Whole experience was a 10/10.

Trendy spot with a lively vibe, stylish décor, and some of the best margaritas in Bellevue. The food is flavorful with modern twists on Mexican classics, and service is attentive even when busy. Prices are a bit upscale, but worth it for the quality and atmosphere.

This restaurant was absolutely awful. First time, I was so excited to go here because they are a gluten free. I have celiac disease Awesome great, got there, request guacamole with no onions, see pictures bellow. I called the waiter over 3 times he said, no onions, ugh,, i ate it and felt awful. Called management over he comp the meal. After arguing, even tge kitchen came out to argue with me. Untill they saw the picture. Today I called at 4:30pm, asked if I come in a management can take my order, to mKe sure there is no problem. Management said, “absolutely see xou later,”, Get there at 6pm, management we have no tables. This place customer service is absolutely awful. Awful. As a business owner, I could never allow a new customer 2 awful experience. Don’t waste your time here. Tight tables no space, I don’t care about the price, its downtown Bellevue, but I care about customer service. Absolutely awful.
So upstairs to Dukes, where it always feel like home.

I don’t know what others are talking about that are leaving a 1 star review, we have not had any of the issues.

We came in last weekend and it was wonderful. It was so good we came back 2 days later to eat again.

The pastor taco is by far our favorite. The pork belly taco with the tropical pico is so flavorful it’s my 2nd favorite. The quessobirria taco is my third and last unfortunstely is the waygu taco. The waygu taco just had too much guac at the bottom for me.

The ceviche is also amazing as well
