Great food paired with kind and attentive service summarizes my visit to El Rey Del Taco 2.
We were sat quickly and in no time our server was at the table to take our drinks order, bringing with him fresh chips. Instead of a cup of salsa El Tey Del Taco 2 features a salsa bar with several options, even one to please my heat sensitive partner.
For our meal we tried the quesabirria tacos and the cochinita pibil special. It came out nice and hot, and the flavors and portions were on point. The pork of the cochinita pibil was especially stand out featuring a perfect blend of spices and absolutely melt in your mouth tenderness. As a bonus the table was set with a surprisingly strong habanero based hot sauce. Not a cheap capsaicin cocktail but a sauce with real depth and flavor.
Overall a great experience and I look forward to coming back.

l really liked the tables ❤️ they were so colorful!
The waitress was kind and efficient.
My burrito was really tasty and I was able to get one birraria taco, super yummy! It was also nice to choose from a bunch of salsa, that was not easy choosing my favorite. The restaurant is in a quiet shopping area, they need to get the parking lot paved!! It’s hard to believe such a yummy little Mexican restaurant is right there tucked in the corner. Don’t let it fool you it’s a delicious little spot! I totally recommend

I have been looking for delicious empanadas in Colorado Springs for years and finally found them here. I ordered the chicken empanadas and they are freshly made in house and have a wonderful flavor and consistency. Service was wonderful and the store had a very colorful decor on the booths and tables that I enjoyed. The last thing I need to mention is the salsa bar. They bring you chips and you can grab your own salsa and pickled veggies at the bar. It all tasted very fresh to me and the variety and quality was amazing. I eat a lot of Mexican food in this city and this is top 1% to my taste buds.

Usually I don’t post unless it’s due to a really good reason or a really bad one. Unfortunately in this case it’s the latter. Let me start by saying the food wasn’t terrible, neither was the service, but they weren’t great either by any means. I’ve had way better Mexican food at other places but decided to give this place a chance based on the reviews. I ordered two tacos with rice and beans and a large beer. The food was $15 which seems a bit steep, but ok, I’ll buy. The beer on the other hand was 32ozs for reference, and ended up being $17 dollars!!! Nowhere was the price advertised, and granted I could’ve asked, but that is highway robbery! When asked if the price was accurate the server responded “that’s the price of alcohol these days”. No it’s not, not by a long shot. That same beer will run you $4 at the liquor store. Not too mention when asked if I could make minor substitutions to the fried tacos to include pork instead of chicken or beef the server stated they couldn’t. So I was forced to get something else instead. I will not be going back based strictly on their ridiculous prices and their unwillingness to compromise on minor menu substitutions.

One of our favorite Mexican restaurants in the Springs. Great food, great service, colorful atmosphere. On this stop my wife got the Birria Ramen and I had the Enchilada Suizas. Both were excellent. We love the condiments/salad bar. It has five or six kinds of salsa with varying degrees of heat. Our server was very friendly and thorough. The atmosphere, as I said, is colorful and festive. Prices are very reasonable. We highly recommend!

We will definitely return to try more food! I’ve only been here once and it was a great first impression. Service was wonderful and the food was amazing. My daughter had me take a bite of her birria taco, and it was so good, I said I’m definitely getting that next time! I want to try everything!

The birria tacos are amazing. I love that I can buy chips for $2.50, and get salsa for them for free. This is my favorite go to Mexican spot. Also, Jesus is very friendly and easy to talk to. He is very nice, and professional! I love this place lol. I love the mexican decor too! It had a very nice Christmas tree when I went last time.
