It’s one of the best place to get authentic New Mexican food! Everything tested fresh, homemade and authentic New Mexican flavor. The price was very reasonable and servers were very friendly. We will definitely be coming back!

Perea’s was AMAZING. The staff was so kind – as someone who’s never been to New Mexico, our server gave great recommendations of some of the classics we needed to try. The food was incredibly flavorful and thoughtful across the board – easily the best sopas my friend and I have ever had. Portions were generous and the space is very warm and cozy. We would never stop coming here if we lived more close by!

The food was delicious and the atmosphere felt like home. It was a great experience until we went to the front to pay and when I asked the girl in the front to spilt the check, she gave me a horrible look and had attitude when I went to pay with cash. It’s unfortunate that people that hate their jobs are the front face of a restaurant. Didn’t expect to walk out feeling like an inconvenience. Our server was perfect! Not sure if the food was worth it or if we will return after the hosts terrible attitude.

Little place, no parking on the front but enough on the back and side. Flour tortillas are thick and taste good, that way you know these are made on site and not store-bought, I got a Christmas lunch ground beef burrito, green Chile felt like medium hot, it was good enough for me to go back and try something else. The cost are average on new mexican food,

I really have only been here twice and both have been for takeout burritos. The first time I got the chicharrone and bean burrito everything was delicious and wonderful…especially it was a fantastic size for the price. This most recent time that I ordered the same burrito, it was almost half the size and the chicharrone was not as fresh tasting. They are still an amazing restaurant to visit and I hope that this review helps them to do a little bit more quality control.

Efficient and superior service throughout our time there – with 14 people in our group! Food was excellent too. Definitely worth the trip. Staff worked well together to make for a memorable experience. Thanks.

Moved from Alb over 27 years ago but always come back to Perea’s for the absolute best chorizo and potato burrito with Green on the planet!! Bar none! You must try it at least once! Small restaurant but definitely worth the wait. Also tried the carne adovada with red which was also very tasty. But the burrito…WOW! So glad to come visit family regularly just to visit Perea’s too.

Tried this place for the first time today- as we got out of the car- it smelled SOOOO good, we couldn’t wait to go in. The staff was awesome! Our server was one of the best we have had in a long time! I ordered the parea burger with green Chile and my wife got the cheese enchiladas with green. They were both soooo good! Definitely some of the best enchiladas I’ve had! Everything tasted homemade. It truly tasted like we were eating at someone’s home. I HIGHLY recommend stopping in and getting a bite to eat here! Save room for their sopapillas!!!!

Always great place to eat. Was packed and people waiting out the door but was delicious and worth the wait. We had Frontier the day before and this was 1000000 times better, no comparison. Frontier was overhyped and bland and stale.

I really didn’t have a good experience here. I had high hopes walking in; it’s a small place and there were plenty of people seated, however it kind of went downhill from there. My waitress didn’t really understand the menu and had to read it to see what is ordered and what it came with. She actually almost put in the wrong item, huevos rancheros instead of carne adovada plate.
Unfortunately the food wasn’t great when it arrived. The carne adovada plate is overwhelmingly a single flavor: black pepper. So much pepper, I can’t understand it. And no chile! Look at the water pooling under the meat. I ordered a side of red chile and a tortilla to try and bring in some more flavor but it didn’t help. Among the worst carne adovada plates I’ve had in town. I didn’t even finish it, a deep rarity for me.
The red chili i got on the side was pretty good on its own. Strong chili flavor but not overly bitter like some chile forward sauces. The tortilla was 1/8in thick, decent. Couldn’t immediately tell from taste if it was homemade.
A little side nit, I don’t understand why this meal didn’t come with a tortilla. Almost every small spot in ABQ will offer tortilla on the side of a plate of meat. I waited 5 minutes while my food cooled waiting for an a la carte tortilla I had to ask for. By the way that tortilla coated $3.29! For 1 tortilla!
The table next to me didn’t get their sopapillas at the end of their meal. The lady across from me didn’t get her beans and had to send the waitress back to get it. I only got a small napkin and no one checked on me so I could get another. Lots of weird interactions going on.
When I was done, I asked if it came with sopapilla and she said yes, how many. I asked for 1, and she proceeded to ORDER me a sopapilla and put it on my bill. She said they’d add it to my total when I paid.
Overall the experience and the food were poor. The many positive reviews may be influenced by locals nostalgic for an earlier version of this place, or folks taken in by the charm of a small local restaurant. But there are literally dozens of similar restaurants with MUCH better food, service and value.
