We visited Atrio Restaurant as a large family group and were immediately impressed by the location. It’s perched on a rooftop right next to the cathedral, offering breathtaking views and a charming ambiance that really captures the magic of San Miguel de Allende.

The drink menu was solid—plenty of cocktails, wines, and beers to choose from—and the atmosphere was elevated even more by the unexpected treat of a fireworks show during our visit. That moment alone made the evening feel special.

As for the food, it was generally good, though not quite the standout we were hoping for. The “arroz negro” missed the mark for us, but other dishes like the ñoquis were delicious and well-prepared.

Overall, Atrio is worth a visit for the views, the vibe, and the drinks. Just go in with moderate expectations for the food, and you’ll likely have a great time.

I highly recommend visiting this restaurant, really nice experience on every level.
Asparagus were just phenomenal, dumplings with duck were packed with flavor and soft shell crab taco was maybe on the simple side but tasty as well. From the main courses one was a miss – red snapper was unfortunately dry and cold, but suckling pig was nice and well balanced.
Waiters were friendly, took well care of us and didn’t rush us, we could enjoy nice view of the cathedral and overall atmosphere.
For sure would come back here again!

Excellent rooftop, great view of La Parroquía, fantastic staff. Soft shell crab Baja taco is a surprising delight, and the roasted habanero salsa just perfect. Almond crusted tempura asparagus are creative. Croissant bread cube with rosemary butter is out of this world fantastic! Artichoke appetizer very tasty, and the Parmesan scallops smoke grilled over rosemary charcoal are amazing. Black squid rice and black pasta very flavorful and balanced without being fishy. Mini charred croissant dessert was almost as fun as the key lime pie. This is a menu I need to work my way through!

this place was insane. delicious food and indredible rooftop views.

poultry was excellently cooked (duck and chicken). so good it made someone at the table start liking duck. every dish was exceptional, we had to order the gunkan 3x (toro and foie gras nigiri). amazing experience and service. very solid wine list, including some great mexican wines. would definitely recommended, return, and gatekeep.

Excellent atmosphere and view of the beautiful church.

This is a great restaurant. Very tasty and very original plates. Each plate was delicious. Service was great. Location, the balcony facing the cathedral terrace is very nice. The only thing that is missing (for me) is good selection of desert. It is worth.

We chose Atrio to celebrate a very important milestone, expecting the experience to match the reputation and the view. Unfortunately, the service fell far short.

We made our reservation months in advance and clearly noted that we were celebrating a special occasion. We specifically requested seating closest to the Parroquia, understanding that the view is the main draw. Instead, we were seated at the table farthest from the view, near the bathroom, on an elevated section where we could feel every footstep from guests walking by. For a restaurant that markets itself around ambiance and scenery, the placement felt careless — especially given the advance notice.

Service only declined from there. After delivering our food, our waiter disappeared. No drink refills. No check-ins. No attention whatsoever. Meanwhile, the hostess wandered the floor without purpose, yet made no effort to improve the situation or acknowledge the special occasion we had communicated well in advance.

Atrio appears to rely heavily on its prime location overlooking the Parroquia. A great view, however, cannot compensate for inattentive service and a complete lack of empathy for guests celebrating meaningful events.

What should have been a memorable evening was instead a disappointment.

I loved this restaurant for so many reasons. First, there is a stair lift for wheelchair users, A+ for accessibility concerns. The outdoor area is stunning, with great views of the parroquia and a lovely fireplace in the indoor portion. Also, the servers were excellent and so nice. Yair had great recommendations.

For the food, the bread they serve when you first come in is outstanding. It comes with a salted herb butter that’s super tasty. The ceviche was excellent, and came with some quinoa crisps to use as chips. It is a must try if you like ceviche. I also had the duck rolls, which missed the mark for me, unfortunately. For my main, I had the snapper, which came in chunks with a spicy sauce over it. It was incredible. I’m not the biggest fan of spicy food, but the spice was just enough and the fish still had lots of flavor. My husband had the pork and pear, and he loved it.

The drinks were also very delicious. For dessert, we had a goat cheese cheesecake was that was very good, not overly sweet and very smooth.

Awesome place to eat in San Miguel de Allende! Food was delicious and excellently presented! Service was kind and very attentive, checked on us often and cleared plated promptly and politely! Atmosphere is awesome on the terrace! Loved the Smoked Unami Roll and the Short Ribs were fantastic! Def recommended for a nice dinner in San Miguel! Make reservations early, like days in advance if you are planning on eating here during busy times, we ate here on the weekend of Dia de Los Muertos and made reservations 4 days before and they were already pretty booked. I also made a point of asking for a table on the edge of the terrace for awesome views!

As residents of San Miguel, we have always enjoyed taking our out of town guests to Atrio for a unique experience. Having said that, the only way to make a reservation is in person. They never answer the reservation line. We have tired of having to physically go by the restaurant for a reservation, and have now decided there are many other fine restaurants who actually accept reservations by telephone or WhatsApp that our friends can enjoy. The atmosphere is beautiful and the food is overall good, but clearly, they don’t need business.
