The atmosphere of this place is very nice and the food is pretty good. It was a bit on the pricey side but the portion size makes up for it. I went on a weekend and they had their breakfast carbonara which I highly recommend. Unfortunately, I didn’t get that but instead their bolognese rigatoni. It was good as well but not as delicious as the breakfast carbonara as I started to get flavor fatigue towards the end. Anyways, I would recommend this place during lunch on a WEEKDAY because they have their $12 lunch special. This way you get delicious food at a great price.

Wort the wait. We did not have a reservation on a Thursday night, Mr bad. The wait was about an hour on this pre-Christmas week. This is a local favorite no doubt since this is 1 of 7 Fumo restaurants in NY. It was crowded and noisy but in a good way. Lots of people having conversations with their cocktail/wine. There is a small bar with seats for singles or a couple without a reservation. Enough seats to sit 8 Butts. Like many sidewalk restaurants the ambiance were the customers inside and big windows watching passerby’s outside. That said, not many, if any, cared about ambiance. It is all about their dinner mates. Ok picture painted.
There service staff are well trained Italian gentlemen. Taught to anticipate and provide everything you need to make your time here enjoyable, memorable, and let’s face it bring you back again. It works. Our waiter was perfect. He timed his visits to take our orders making a point to ensure us there was no hurry. The menu was well appointed but not too much, giving us options for appetizers, mains, sides and desserts.
We ordered a nice bottle of wine and started with the best fried calamari we have enjoyed. We ordered Branzino? Pizza and chicken Parmesan . The table was happy with everything but the burnt chicken parm. The only thing out waiter missed was the uneaten chicken.
The sandwich board out front stated 1/2 priced bottled wines on Wednesday. That is a nice incentive to enjoy this restaurant. Horner, based on our experience we will return to Fumo regardless of incentives.

Their $12 pasta is an amazing deal with excellent quality food. This quality with this price in NYC??? I don’t need to say more. My favorite is the pesto. The cabonara tasted too oniony for me because I’m more used to the Italian cabonara with no onions.
2026 edit: the waitstaff was rude to me, not on one occasion but twice, so I’m reducing service to 1 star and overall review to 4 stars.

The atmosphere is great for night time dining, and service is just about right. Only problem is miscommunication. Food wise, personally I got the chicken parm, the dish its self was good and nothing special, although I found it hard to cut into the chicken itself from the burnt cheese on top. The sauce was salty and left a lasting taste in my mouth.

Fumo is truly one of NYC’s hidden gems! This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in all over NYC. I truly love to come here and get favorite dishes or try something new.
The fried Mozzarella is a signature here. I get it every trip but I also love the Vegan pesto with grill chicken add on! Best of the best ! The pizza here is amazing as wells. The margarita pizza is another signature here.

Food was aight and the music playlist was fire, but our server with the short blonde hair was so rude to my sister for some reason? She didn’t greet us, tossed our check in front of her, and kept running into her chair when passing by. Very cold and unprofessional. The carbonara is very flavorful, but too many onions imo. The mushroom penne also has a strong rich taste, but leaves you feeling heavy after. I’d say maybe this would be a cute place for a small group brunch/dinner, and maybe get the wood fired pizza instead of the pasta for the vibes.

I went to both this location and the location in Harlem. I would say that this location is better however I do not believe I will be returning as a customer. All of the food was mediocre. I did not have high expectations because the location in Harlem was very disappointing. I will say they are a smidge better but not enough for me to spend my money again.
