No seasoning or sauce on them and no smoke.
I, sadly, ordered a full rack. I also got a pulled pork sandwich which had no sauce or actually anything on it at all. Lastly, I ordered brisket nachos, which were the best of the 3, but I believe that’s because the chips were thick home style chips and they were drowned in sauce, some interesting cheese and pickled jalapenos.
I am convinced that all the meat was cooked in an oven . I drove 20 minutes with the 3 meals in my car and there was not a hint of barbecue smell .
Just a weird experience overall.
The staff was very nice and helpful and they did at least give me a full rack of ribs, even if they were an oven baked, mushy disaster.
No complaints about the service, just the food.
Maybe they ran out of wood for the smoker ? I’m not sure what happened…
The pictures actually make the ribs look a slight bit better than the sad “bbq” ribs I received.
For an extra touch of sweetness, we added a side of sweet potato casserole that was so good it might just convince you to swap out your dessert for a veggie! Everything we tasted was simply delightful, and the flavors danced on our tongues like they were at a BBQ ballroom bash.
This was our first visit, but it definitely won’t be our last! With cold beer on tap that brought refreshing joy and delightful sweet tea that offered a taste of summer, we were practically hugging our drinks. The staff? They were the cherry on top—genuinely kind, friendly, and ready to chat with anyone who walked through the door.
We left with full bellies and a handful of new friends, and let’s be honest, we just found our new happy place! If you’re not at Wiley’s BBQ, are you really living?
Smoke flavor. The chicken was dry. The ribs were nothing memorable. The broccoli cheese rice was so overcooked it was mealy. The collard greens were… forgettable. This whole meal was really disappointing. I’m sorry y’all, but you win no championships in my book. I genuinely wish I could rate y’all better but this just wasn’t it. Also, as a note on atmosphere:: warm lights in the Edison bulbs. Please. I can’t believe I have to say this. Bright cool bulbs are TERRIBLE ON THE EYES. If the bulbs are exposed, they should be dim, warm light. Ugh.
Get pulled pork or smoked wings. Ribs are good too. Only meat i am not a fan of is brisket and that may be me more than their brisket.
Brunswick stew for a starter is nice.
Kid had the burger and it was really good too. So its more than BBQ. But GET the BBQ as its still the best.
The food? Also incredible. Let me just slide in here and recommend the Brunswick stew, y’all. Perfect ratio of meat to veggies, nice and thick, that hint of sweet heat… my mouth is watering thinking about it.
Brisket slider was 10/10, especially with the smoky sauce at the table. The pulled pork my wife got rapidly disappeared (she says the smoky sauce also made it sing, though it was very good as-is). She was pleased with her sides while stating that neither the mac-n-cheese or the slaw were super standout-y. They were good! Just not slap-ya-mama good.
Something that was 10000/10? The hushpuppy platter. It does NOT mess around. It gives you a sweet-savory roundhouse, crunchy outside, soft inside. My wife doesn’t much care for hushpuppies and she ate most of them. I put in a concerted effort myself, and there were still plenty left over. (Of course we took them home.)
Loved the vibe of the place. Nice, chill, clean tables, old-timey signs on the walls. Super happy we visited. During future visits, we’ll be back!
