The food here was excellent, and sitting at the bar made for a fun, relaxed experience. Our server was attentive and friendly, and the drinks were top-notch. The menu offered a wide variety of options, with plenty of choices for vegetarians as well. Everything we tried was flavorful and well-prepared. Between the great service, tasty food, and welcoming atmosphere, this spot is a solid choice whether you’re grabbing a casual bite or enjoying a night out.

Food was phenomenal! From service to view, everything was perfect. I know reviews talk about a long wait but it was nice waiting with a drink by the water. I definitely recommended these drinks: Aperol Sprits frozen and the bloody Mary. For for food: the hot lobster roll, blackened chicken tacos, fried fish tacos, the burrito, and the shrimp and fries.

We were on a short tour of the CT shoreline to revisit the many places we have been to many times over the years. We stopped in Stonington to see the sights and have lunch at Breakwater. It is a great casual restaurant built on a pier out in the bay. Seating inside and out but when weather is nice like today, outside is the best.
We had fish & chips and fish tacos. Both were excellent. Add a beer and it was perfect!
Views of the water and boats are really spectacular.

Went here for family dinner (about 30 people) after my mother’s funeral. Everything prepaid for. Staff very friendly, our waiter was fabulous. Shared calamari appetizer with my niece- very good, except the cherry peppers were fried in the same batter as calamari & unless paying close attention you might not get what you intended to eat. Calamari very good, peppers too hot for me. Sister and I had surf and turf – I got steak, she got flounder roll. Both very good.
It is too pricey for me and i llive out of state (Arkansas), so probably won’t return again.

Great location with good food. Lobster roll was amazing. Seafood medley was good. Gluten free kids pasta could’ve been better—especially with the almost $dollar upcharge just for the gluten free option which is a little absurd for the quality. Other than that, we would love coming back.

The deck is so nice and the view is incredible. It’s one of those places where you almost don’t even care if the food is just mediocre, luckily for us it was good 🙂
Our server was super sweet and added to an already great experience.

First off, make sure you get a reservation here! It gets busy! Our waitress was fantastic , extremely kind and helpful. The view and ambiance are just perfect, I don’t think there’s a bad seat in the house. In regard to the food, the fried calamari was good but pretty heavy on the batter and it was more garnish than actual calamari on the plate,The seafood pasta was delicious and filling, however I wasn’t super impressed by the salmon. It had a great crispy exterior, however it lacked in flavor and the inside was a bit tough, I think it maybe could have used a sauce or just some extra salt and pepper!Overall, If you are in the area it’s not a bad option at all but I wouldn’t say it’s a must try.

We enjoyed a lovely dinner here at BREAKWATER. The views were beautiful, service was friendly, and food was delicious. The fried calamari was fine but had a lot more fried peppers and other veggies vs. calamari. The lobster roll was not bad especially with a side of sweet potato fries. The seafood pasta was phenomenal with shrimp, scallops, lobster, crab, julienne vegetables, garlic-parmesan cream sauce, and parmesan. The Blackened Mahi Mahi and Pan Seared Faroe Island Salmon were also pretty good. I liked the firmness of the Mahi Mahi but the Seared Salmon was so tender and delicious. It had a sweet corn puree, summer succotash, Matunuck Microgreens pea shoots and strawberry salsa.
Now for my standard comments. Parking is an open parking lot right in front of the restaurant but it is easy to miss the entrance if you are not familiar with the town or roads. Location is well kept and clean. Indoor dining was comfortable.

Had a wonderful lunch yesterday here. First time dining at Breakwater. Was recommended to me by an acquaintance. Very comfortable dining area with plenty of room to spread out. Had the cod fish tacos. Fish was excellent and the tacos were delicious, but a bit too many onions in the mix for my taste.
On the other hand their NE Clam chowder was one of the best I’ve had in years. It’s chock full of claims and delicious potatoes. Its consistency is more like a stew than a soup. Just excellent.
Our server Erin was as nice and as friendly and as efficient as can be. We were lucky to have her but everyone there seems very nice.
