The quality of their sushi is about the same as gas station sushi. There’s a ton of rice, and it’s very low quality. I don’t think they know how to season sushi rice properly, and it tastes like day old rice that you should use for fried rice. Very subpar for the price. And that’s putting it nicely. They could cut the price in half, and it still wouldn’t be a good deal. The service is good, and it is a nice restaurant. Just missing good food. If you’re looking for good sushi, literally anywhere else would be better.

Great place to eat!! I tried the fire island sushi roll and it was outstanding. Best place to grab a nice beer( Sapporo) is my fav, and eat very delicious food. Great service too ! This is my second day in a row coming here, can’t wait to try everything on the menu!!!

Service was terrible. The cook was terrible. He forgot to cook part of the food ordered by the entire section. Then, if that weren’t enough, as my husband was eating his food, he spit out pieces of wire. When the owner/manager was told about it she only wanted to offer a 20% discount. We refused to pay it at all. Fast forward 1-2 hours later..my son and I are in the bathrooms with the worst food poisoning I’ve ever had. Mind you we both ate two different things. We live in the area and I will never, and I do mean NEVER, eat here again. The whole place should be shut down.

So been hesitant to leave a review like this, but this is now the third time I’ve been here in the last few months and it’s been about the same the last three times so here I am. The first time I came with my wife and my two year-old we sat at one of the grills enjoyed our food and our experience. Everything was great. The chef was awesome. Had a great personality and catered to us like they should as that’s their job. Whenever I receive my bill it had a gratuity tip on it. I confronted our server and she said yeah that’s just what it is because you’re with a big party and I said no Its just My Wife and my kid. “Well you’re at this big table with all these other people so.”
What is the response that I got? I don’t really mind I paid it. Food was good. Everything was good. I moved on with life. So about a month later, I come back on a Wednesday night at 6 PM with a party of 10. I brought my family and Uncle’s we sat at a Grill and had one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at this location. As per chef he had zero personality wore his mask and cooked food. That was all he did. I asked him for a ginger sauce and he looked at me like why are you asking me that.. it’s his job to cater to people not sure why he even has the job. All of our food was decent but not the best. Most of everything was overcooked definitely the shrimp and the chicken. Most of us got hibachi. One of us got two sushi rolls. Food was decent. Service was terrible. We had to get up and walk into the kitchen and ask a server for soy sauce and forks. When we received our check (each couple had a separate check). All of our checks had gratuity put on it, which is normal at most places anything over 6 people. The main reason I write this is for the owners!!

That’s not a gratuity that’s a service charge and if you’re gonna do this you should just put service charge on the check because the service was terrible and on this table with all 10 of us they received $20 per couple which is five checks. That’s $100 in gratuity that the lady and the Chef supposedly are going to split. My personal opinion the owner of this place should figure that out because A gratuity is exactly that if you’re gonna call a gratuity a service charge then put that on the check because that’s what it is. The problem when you do this and again my personal opinion, is you now have given your server, the person leading your restaurant customer service zero ambition as they know they will receive a tip.
Another thing we noticed was you’ll be charge 15 dollars to share a meal with your wife… not sure how you figure that but definitely feel ripped off as a customer. We don’t like left overs nor do we eat as much as they serve. We ordered a hibachi chicken and steak and it came out to $30 +14.95 to share it. I’d like to know how you figure this?…

I won’t ever be back here. I probably won’t bring anyone back here.

The food was good and the lady who cleans tables was amazing! She took care of us a lot getting us extra napkins when there was a spill and making sure we needed need anything and got the food we forgot. The waitress was a young girl and she see if we had all our food and was inattentive. Thankful for the lady who cleans tables! She’s amazing.

Dining area was clean. Staff was friendly. Manager was friendly. Main was super salty and lacked vegan options. Veggie tempura was good but unseasoned the sauces were unavailable. I make rice wine vinegar, dash of mirin, soy sauce and water to make an easy sauce. They did remove the tofu hot pot from the bill.

Kobe Smithfield is an amazing restaurant. I come here on my lunch breaks once a week. Food is always fresh and fast. The staff is always polite and courteous. The best place to get fresh sushi in the area. They even have half priced roll lunch specials. Highly recommend this place. Darla is an exceptional waitress and always remembers my drink before I can even tell her. 5 * Service & a 5 * Product.

We had a great time at Kobe restaurant. The habachi is fun and entertaining with delicious steak and shrimp. The special rolls are beautiful. They also take our especial order of sushi. Friendly service and lively atmosphere—especially good for a birthday party.

My son brought me to the Smithfield location for my 60th Birthday. I have a seafood allergy so I asked if I could substitute the appetizer that was shrimp with something different. She said I just wouldn’t be given an appetizer unless I wanted to pick & pay for an extra appraiser. Our meal also contained shrimp along with the steak, chicken, fried rice, carrots and salad. Instead of substituting my shrimp with extra chicken or steak they said they just gave my shrimp to my son. To top it off, both tables beside us that arrived 15 & 30 minutes after us received their food before us and we’re almost finished eating when we had to ask where our food was. It had been prepared but not brought to us. Our food was Luke warm at best. My carrots were cold. The server was cold and dismissive of our asking for our food & more water & for being unhappy with our cold food. She brought the cook out who gave us a 15% discount. By this time we just asked for to go boxes so we could leave. Ruined my once a year visit with my son and my *60th Birthday dinner. Worst experience ever!! I will not be back neither will my son.
