If you’re not white, don’t eat here. They make you feel unwelcome. Everything was awkward from the time we walked in. Hard staring & our treatment was so obviously not the same as everyone else’s. Our waitress checked on the table next to us many times, and not once ask if we needed anything. We had to get up to grab our own sugar and creamer. We asked for turkey sausage and got pork. The waffle was not good and a strange, light color. The eggs were cold. Thank God I am just passing through. I wouldn’t even live in this small, all white town.

We stop at this perkins whenever we are in town. the food is always amazing and the staff is absolutely wonderful. we had the new pie pancakes and must say these are a huge hit. stopped back in for lunch and the burger fry and pie combo is probably the best deal around. real meat not a fake burger like most fast food places. this perkins is always clean as well. And i would also like to state that my family and i are people of color, and we have never felt out of place here or got feeling that we were not welcome. in fact just the opposite!!!! If you are in Tomah and looking for best little gem in town this is it. sit down and let them get you a cup of coffee and show you what a true guest experience is.

As I was reading recent reviews of this restaurant, which we had been planning to dine at again one of these days, I came across a review mentioning an experience related to being a person of color. That immediately struck a chord with me, as it brought back our own encounter with the manager about a year ago.

BW has been our consistent venue for annual gatherings for over ten years. Since Perkins has been in charge of BW’s venue and catering for events, we have worked with Perkins every year for our large annual event. We had a positive and professional relationship with the previous management. However, since the change in management about two/three years ago, the treatment we have received has noticeably declined.

In 2024, when we booked the venue, the manager increased the price from 900 to 1500 without providing a clear explanation for the change. This was especially concerning as the price listed on their website clearly states 900.

Last year, when our group representative approached management to inquire about booking the venue again, we were met with outright humiliation. We were told directly, “We don’t want you here.” This was shocking and deeply hurtful. We are unsure what we may have done to warrant such a response. As a group that hosts large events annually, we make every effort to follow all rules, from cleanliness to overall conduct. If there was something we did that was unacceptable, it should have been communicated clearly and professionally, not dismissed with such a blunt and disrespectful statement.

This experience left us questioning whether the treatment we received was influenced by the fact that we are people of color. Regardless of the reason, this is a business matter and should have been handled with professionalism and respect, not in a manner that felt demeaning and discriminatory.

There’s not too many spots in Tomah to sit down and have a good meal for a reasonable price; yes there’s a good selection of options like several fast food joints and a couple other notable sit-down spots, but in my personal opinion, none take the crown quite like Perkins does. The moment you walk into the doors the atmosphere feels warm and inviting. There’s a cabinet in the main waiting area with a selection of delicious looking pies, muffins, and other treats. You’re greeted and seated by their extremely friendly hostesses who then direct you to your main server who promptly make their introduction and add a bit of friendly charm to the experience by ensuring that you will be well tended to during your dining experience. Drinks were served promptly, kindly, and quickly. The server, without being persistent, paid attention to and acknowledged us being ready to order, even with having a full section already. Our food came out within a reasonable amount of time and was absolutely DELICIOUS. Server made sure we were enjoying our food and that our drinks were full. They also quickly noticed when we were finished and kindly inquired if we were ready for our bill or if we’d like anything else or possibly some dessert. We did end up leaving with a peanut butter silk pie. Delicious! Thank you Perkins staff for the pleasant experience and we look forward to returning!

We were sat by a lady whose first day was today! She was so sweet! Then we met our waitress Payton. She is the most nicest sweetest person we’ve met here so fair! Busting her butt! Trying to get her tables caught up which we totally understand. Now Mandy! Mandy wasn’t our waitress but hearing her with her guests she is the other sweetest person I’ve ever met and even talked too. Them 2 deserve raises, they are the face of the company and honestly I keep coming back because of them 2! Keep them around!

My family and I arrived around 11:30am and we had a party of 20 people. We hadn’t had the opportunity reserve seating, but the staff double checked bookings to see if they could accommodate us.
Our food was excellent. Great presentations and the taste was great!
Jackie, our hostess, worked diligently to make sure that we were comfortable and well served!
THANK YOU PERKIN’S STAFF!
