Matin Ours
Yue Restaurant is a dependable Cantonese dim sum restaurant in Richmond that focuses on fundamentals rather than trends. The har gow features thin, translucent wrappers with properly folded pleats, and the shrimp filling is crisp and naturally sweet—no excessive starchiness. Siu mai is meaty and well-balanced, with controlled fat and clean seasoning. Steamed pork ribs are flavorful without being mushy, carrying a subtle black bean aroma, while chicken feet are gelatinous and well-braised, glossy without excessive sweetness. The BBQ pork rice roll follows a classic soy profile, and the rice sheet remains soft yet intact. Desserts are equally solid: lava buns flow smoothly with balanced sweetness, and baked BBQ pork pastries show clear flaky layers. This is not a flashy modern dim sum spot, but a place that respects tradition and execution—ideal for family meals or anyone seeking reliable, well-made Cantonese dim sum.

Haven’t come to this place for a long time after a disappointing mid autumn festival dinner few years ago. To my surprise, they are not as busy as before. Not sure if it is because it’s a rainy Sunday night. Pretty decent Chinese food. If you choose standard dishes, price is pretty reasonable especially compared to other similar restaurants. Portion size is good. Like the seafood vermicelli pot. Can smell the good stir fry. Won’t recommend the “peach” pork chop.

This place was recommended to us for their dumplings, but they only serve them after 2 pm (fair enough). We decided to go in anyway. The food was good and the place feels very traditional Chinese. However, it took a long time for the food to arrive, especially the rice.

Get here early for less wait! Great dim sum place with some different variety food items that are less conventional. Each item was tasty and flavorful . Staff is efficient, but with volume there is a time limit in seating, which is fine for a small group.

Great place to eat Cantonese dim sum. Go early to avoid crowds. Limited parking or park on the street paying municipal parking fees. The restaurant accepts reservation. Staff was quick and polite.

If you’re craving top-tier Cantonese cuisine in Richmond, Yue Restaurant won’t disappoint. Here’s why it’s earned a happy spot on my list:
Cozy Ambiance & Comfort
The seating is noticeably plush and inviting—perfect for lingering over a leisurely meal. Whether you’re catching up with friends or settling in for a family celebration, the layout strikes the right balance between casual and refined.
Attentive & Welcoming Service
The staff at Yue are always on their toes—quick to refill tea, clarify menu items, and accommodate requests. They strike just the right chord: friendly and efficient without being overbearing.
Stellar Cantonese Offerings
From classic spring rolls and roasted duck to delicate seafood dishes, the Cantonese selection hits all the right notes in flavor and presentation. Every dish feels thoughtfully prepared and in harmony with traditional tastes.
Dim Sum & Dinner—an All-Day Delight
Known far and wide for its dim sum, Yue certainly lives up to the hype. These bite-sized treasures are impeccably executed: fresh, fluffy, and full of flavor. But don’t stop there—dinner is equally impressive. The dinner menu boasts an impressive range of Cantonese standards, with each dish tasting as thoughtfully curated as the next.
The Verdict:
Yue Restaurant is a standout among Richmond’s Cantonese spots. With great food, cozy charm, and top-notch service, it earns its reputation as a go-to for dim sum—and proves equally reliable for a satisfying evening meal.

We had a reservation and arrived 10 minutes early, waiting politely at the entrance. The staff loudly asked if there were reservations, but I saw multiple walk-in regulars being seated ahead of us. I understand regulars may get special treatment, but there was no need to mislead us by saying a “large table was being cleaned.” In reality, we waited 30 minutes only to be given a small table near the entrance.
We had elderly family members, a child, and even a pregnant lady with us, the waiting arrangement felt inconsiderate. After ordering dim sum, fried dishes came within 2 minutes, but they were cold, clearly feeling like returned items rather than freshly cooked.
The only polite staff we encountered were the manager handling payment and the dim sum lady. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

Dinner with family for 9 people. Service is too notched. Our plates were changed at least 2-3 times.
Fish and shrimp were delicious!
My family thought some dishes were more salty than others (not consistent) but I personally think it’s great.
Server also recommended chef’s dishes to us which were appreciated.
We had kids and they put us in a corner table which were very thoughtful.
Comes to about $50 per person with seafood and duck/chicken.
Highly recommended.

The food was very good but over priced for what you get. Dependable but nothing stood out as amazing. I forgot to take pictures of most of the dishes. The restaurants in Vancouver close remarkably early (21:30 on a Saturday???). A waiter came around at 21:00 asking if we wanted to order anything else, we asked if dessert could be ordered later and he said that was fine… Of course when we tried to order dessert it was too late. But overall I would say the deal was decent just over priced. We did get a huge lobster but even simple dishes were at least $40.

Awesome Dim Sum experience, so authentic that most of the service workers didn’t speak English.
The food was on point, with great portion sizes. Everything was executed to perfection and there was no bad dish we ordered. We will definitely be coming again next time we are in Richmond.
