Kanes hits you with those big doughnuts that make you feel like a kid again. The prices stay kind, the flavors stay bold, and the maple bacon is the crown jewel. Not everyone is brave enough to make one, but Kanes leans right into it and nails it every single time. Whenever we roll into Saugus to visit family, we show up with a box from here because nothing says we missed you like a dozen from the hometown favorite.
The coffee keeps it simple. No smoke and mirrors, no overhyped circus tricks. Just a clean, steady cup that pairs perfectly with a coffee roll that could fix any tired morning.
And then the twist. The pizza. I love when a bakery throws a little surprise in the mix, and their square Sicilian slice grabs your attention right away. Great texture, great flavor, and honestly better than a few of the greasier options in town. I would choose a slice here with zero hesitation.

This little donut shop actually has three locations. At this location Easy in and out With plenty of parking. They have outside seating. Their donuts are huge. This is definitely a must stop even if you’re not hungry for a donut at the time you purchase it. Take it home with you! The milk supplier is definitely worth the purchase.

OMG, AMAZING donuts. Personally I like donuts but I don’t like them too sweet. This was my first time trying this place thanks to my colleague, and they really did a great job at highlighting the appropriate flavors by making the donut base less sweet. The Boston creme donut was FILLED with creme and I absolutely loved it. Also really enjoyed the jelly donuts and fritters. Was impressed how they were able to make the outside with a thin layer of crunchiness without losing the softness inside. Very well-done. Technically donuts are fried doughs and personally I had found it hard to maintain the soft moist inside if I had wanted to make it crunchy outside (tends to get dry or too oily). These folks are real donut experts. They were high quality donuts. Would high recommend. And apparently per their website, this particular location is the “original”, now almost 70 years (“since 1955”). Pretty impressive .

Been going there since I was a kid. I used to go with my dad. All the pastries are fantastic, and the coffee is nice and hot. Perfect thing for a cold day. Everything is made fresh, nothing bought. Definitely beats Dunken Donuts by a country mile.

I love their donuts but each time I come here and we get this young guy in glasses, he’s always so rude like it makes me feel like ordering your donuts are a burden to you omg. It’s giving “im too cool to be nice”. I really wish it wasn’t this uncomfortable to get food

While visiting the area I heard of how great Kate’s Donuts are, so I decided to take the long way home in order to stop and experience them. Best decision ever! Lots of options to order, including in person. There was a big selection and we even tried (and enjoyed) the gluten free options. Staff were helpful and we received our order quickly. You will spend a few bucks but it’s worth every bite of these gems!

As someone with celiac this place is a gem. I drove 1.5 hours and do not regret anything. The Gluten Free donuts are big, fluffy and a lot of awesome flavors. Can’t wait to come back!

Got up early this morning and arrived at Kanes Donuts at 5:11 am the morning staff was friendly and I was greeted with a smile by Krista H. I tried the 2 new Monthy special donuts Apple Cider and Pumpkin the regular donuts were Maine Blueberry, Creme Brulee, French Cruller, and plain donuts. Also got the huge Honey-Glazed Coffee Roll and a medium cold brew coffee with a French vanilla shot. This spot is great and the donuts are always fresh tasting and donuts are big! You will not be disappointed coming to this location! Try it!!!!

Hands down the best donuts that I’ve had in a very long time. It’s become like my thing to do my own little donut tour any place that I travel to. This place had so many unique donuts that I could not just pick one or two or three. I got a box of 6 and tried a little bite of each one. Let’s just say that I went to two other donut shops after going to this one, and I still could not stop thinking about the donuts at this shop. I should have saved the best for last, but now I know where my spot is, and I’ll be coming back for sure.
