The food was tasty, kept hot, and portions were good, so the price was reasonable given the quality served. I got a lunch combo with the pulled pork, beans and an extra side of Mac-n-cheese. The tea was fresh and not watery. The pulled pork was minced a little small for my preference but delicious and served on a soft n warm potato roll. Yum! I enjoyed the house bbq sauce. The mac-n-cheese was creamy without being gummy. The beans were really amazing. Tasty bean mix with good seasoning. I took them up on an offer of bananamisu and it was heavenly. Can’t wait to go back for the chicken and brisket choices! Picnic tables inside or out for dining. ¹

Best BBQ this side of the Mississippi! Fun and authentic atmosphere. Delicious options and menus with a daily specials menu as well! Cornbread pudding is a must but all of the sides are delicious. Can’t go wrong!

BEST BBQ IVE EVER HAD! We had the fall off the bone ribs that you can see the smoke permeation line in. The smoked flavoring was perfect and their seasoning not just salty. The meat was moist yet had a nice outer slight crisp char. Ours sides were the bomb perfectly seasoned and cooked fresh collards and White Cheddar Mac n cheese to die for. I’ll personally guarantee you’ll agree this is the best! Oh, don’t forget the sauces! Each sauce is different yet very good. Not just sugary yuck. We even tried a bit of the vinegar one and the mustard based one on the collards. Did I mention I am very impressed? Everything about this was perfect. The price was $70 including tips and taxes and we both got the two meat platters. A little high, but for truly the best bbq of my life? Yeah, I’ll be back!

This is authentic Texas BBQ. The brisket here has the red meat rings and there is no sauce – two signs that you have real TX BBQ. The sides are money and the deserts were great. This place is definitely highly recommended. If you’re complaining about the prices here, you have no idea what it takes to make real TX BBQ and you don’t deserve to put this in your mouth. Quality has a price and this place will get my money any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Got the sliced beef , brisket and the burnt ends. Both were delicious. Loved the little bit of sweetness in the baked beans. Potato salad and rack and cheese , were great as well.

An Absolute Hidden Gem in Norfolk!

Tucked just off a main road, I’ve passed by this place countless times without realizing what I was missing. But today was my first visit—and WOW, I’m so glad I finally stopped in.

The food was absolutely delicious, bursting with flavor and clearly made with care. The atmosphere was welcoming, the service was warm, and every bite felt like a treat.

This spot truly is one of Norfolk’s hidden gems —a place you’ll want to come back to again and again.

Highly recommended! Thank you so much for a wonderful experience!

We went there tonight, we got there around 5:30 PM. After looking over the menu, we asked for the two meat meal. The person behind the counter apologized that they were sold out of everything except pulled pork. So we just got the one meat option, not a huge deal. Then we only had an option for 3 different sides (sold out of the majority of sides), still not a big deal. We went out to the dining area and there are only 1 of each kind of sauce that we had to share with the other guests, still not that big of a deal. About 5 minutes after we got our food, one of the workers came out to the dining area and said since they just sold out of all their food and we were going to have leave because they are closing. They were going to give us 5 minutes to finish our food. There was a group of 3 people that got their food minutes before we did, they spend well over $100 and were no where close to being done eating. For my party, we were almost done eating and it wasn’t that big of a deal that they were closing. Then we walked back through the area you ordered your food to leave and another worker said you can’t get out that door it’s lock, you will have to leave through the back door.

The workers were not very courteous of the people that just spend money at their restaurant. We spend $58 on two meals, definitely not worth it for the amount of food get or service.

I know good BBQ places will run out of meat, that’s completely understandable. But to close your restaurant over two hours early, not letting guests finish their meals is completely unacceptable. I would expect a place like this would be different.

First time here last night and it was really good! We got the meat sweats sampler, and everything was super flavorful and juicy. We tried 3 of the sauces, all very tasty. My favorite part might have been the pickled red onions – they’re unlike any I’ve ever had before. I do warn that even on a weekday they were sold out of a lot of things, so if you really want something on the menu keep that in mind! We also found it really cool they had a map to pin where you’re from. My husband and I are from rural Wisconsin, so we put a pin in as best we could! Safe to say we will be coming back.

I had my first visit to Redwood Smoke Shack in Virginia Beach and let me tell you — everything was GOOD good.

From the moment I walked in, the smell of that slow-smoked BBQ hit me and I already knew I made the right choice. The food did not disappoint. Every bite was on point — seasoned perfectly, cooked just right, and even the sauces were fire. Not one thing was lacking. You can taste the care in the food.

And the employees? Extra nice. Genuinely pleasant. Smiling, patient, and welcoming. I don’t know if it was the amazing smell of the food that had everyone in a good mood, or if their positive energy somehow made the food taste even better — but either way, the whole experience just felt good.

Thank you to the Virginia Beach Redwood Smoke Shack for making my first visit one to remember. Y’all definitely made my day. I’ll be back for sure.

Was in the area on business and sawv this place was getting good reviews. By the time we got in (around 630 pm) they had sold out of several of the meat options. The staff told us this is fairly common due to the popularity and that now that there’s multiple locations the meat is smoked at a central point and then delivered to them for the day, so once they’re out of something, they’re out. We did get some pork, some chicken, some wings, and mac n cheese. Everything was really good. Nice sized portions, wings were really good, nice variety of sauces. Very rustic dining experience, nice sized open patio when the weather is nice. I would definitely try to get back closer to open to try some of the other meat options.
