This is one of my husband’s favorite restaurants because he can get a steak rare, and I love the pork schnitzel. The soup is delicious and I love the way they bring the bread out. We ended up sitting at the bar in the corner because they were so busy and got the sweetest waitress ever her name was Becca we normally asked for Joanne but she was off for the night. The bartender Hank made one of the most delicious lemon drop drinks I have ever tried.
I just want to say if you want a HomeTown feel good delicious food great atmosphere this is the place you need to try if you are coming into DeLand or if you live in DeLand and haven’t been here yet. The owner is amazing and friendly and helpful and will take care of anything that you need. My favorite person overall is Fran who sits at a cashier but she also sits you at a table. I highly recommend you try this restaurant you will not be disappointed.
PS: Sorry about the pics but we we’re sitting in the corner of the bar

We had dinner at Emmy’s in DeLand and it was such a comforting experience. The service was kind and welcoming, and the whole place feels very homey. The meal started with warm homemade bread, soup, and salad, and everything tasted like real homemade cooking. I ordered the Eisbein with sauerkraut and the pork was tender and flavorful. A cozy family style restaurant that I would happily return to and try more dishes.

We started with warm bread – delicious. Then we both had vegetable soup – fantastic. Then came the Ziwiebel Onion – better than Outback’s. We barely had room for the prime rib and baked potato entrees. Needless to say, I can’t wait for lunch leftovers today and probably a prime rib sandwich tomorrow! Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back!

The front part looks like a dive bar, the back looks like your grandmother’s dining room. Could the building use some TLC… sure. But some might say the atmosphere is part of the charm. Either way, the food is probably some of, if not, the best German food I have ever had. The only thing better than the food is the soup they serve before dinner. If you like giant pretzels, they have those too. The staff have all been here forever and feel like they are all family. Try it and thank me later.

We were there on Bingo night and they had a limited menu. Really good home cooked food. Great service.

In the middle of no where, sits this unassuming little restaurant where German food is main event, drawn by the reviews and judging by the crowd when the doors opened something was up.
We secured the last table at 5:10.
It was a little chaotic at first but once the initial orders started out of the kitchen it settled down.
First off homemade pillows soft warm out of the oven bread that could be a meal itself…..a second loaf found its way to our table because it was fresh out of the oven….no we didnt turn it down.
We tried the onion appetizer….let’s just say there was none left….better than the steakhouses…I would say rivals.
Followed by a cucumber and slaw type salad or a beef vegetable soup which I heard was very good.
3 different snitzels for the table and those that enjoy traditional German food raved over it, the sauerkraut, potatos and red cabbage.
The owners are in attendance and rounding the in dining room, taking drink orders or delivering the orphan loaf of bread.
It’s clean and homey.

22June2025: We had a wonderful dinner at Emmy’s. We’ve been coming here for years and I never tried the fish. So I ordered the pan fried Haddock which was absolutely delicious. My wife orders that or shrimp and nowcI know why. The haddock was done to perfection with a slight crisp on the outside. It was so good I didn’t add anything else except lemon! Of course the soup, cucumber salad, German potatoes and Warsteiner made for a perfect meal.
I absolutely recommend Emmy’s for the great food, good service and pleasant atmosphere. It is always a wonderful experience. And the staff all make you feel right at home.
Went to Emmy’s for All American Monday and it was great! The half pound cheesburger with fresh toppings and french fries was excellent. The pastrami on rye was very lean, juicy and great taste. The haddock was large and done properly being fried moist and flakey. The sweet potatoe frys were done to perfection and great dipped in the biercheese. We had tasty pretzel bites with excellent biercheese as an appitizer. And of course, the Warsteiner was cold, smooth and tasty.
I highly recommend Emmy’s Time Out Tavern for any meal or occasion.
