Dirty dining and cold food served with a side of hair. There is nothing home cooked about the meatloaf, potatoes, canned veggies or chicken and dumplings.
This place is a dump!
Steer clear and avoid this place.
The most important thing was that our food was hot, prepared fast and DELICIOUS! I got the bread pudding breakfast (bread pudding with eggs and bacon). The butter rum sauce on the bread pudding is some of the best I’ve ever tried, definitely ordering again (it was even amazing leftover that evening!)!! Bacon and eggs were also great!
My boyfriend ordered a breakfast that came with eggs, ham, bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, and German fried potatoes. It’s not a meal for the lightweights for sure but everything was prepared perfectly! The potatoes were the perfect blend of fluffy and crispy and seasoned to my perfection!
Highly recommend for a down home breakfast…. Just be sure you’re hungry, the servings are plentiful! Will definitely be returning to try out the lunch and dinner menu!
UPDATE! Stopped in again, but for lunch this time. Fast friendly service again. LARGE food portions, come hungry! Brussel sprout appetizer was delicious! Chicken tenders were crispy but not dry, fried okra was cooked perfectly! And the bread pudding was just as amazing as our first visit’.
1. Real Food. Real potatoes, real breadings, real batters, real meats, actual lards or maybe bacon fats in the gravy, real vegetables, real butter, real seasonings and sweeteners… real foods. Did I mention it was ALL of it real, NOT plastic wrapped or microwaved food? Not only was it real food, it was all of it cooked correctly. We ordered 6 entire meals, plus appetizers.. cost? Oh yes, the budget. We paid the exact same as we would have expected to pay a fast food restaurant these days. I was.. well, mind blown. I pray they staying businesses without raising their prices after this. Southern Indiana area, why have you not swarmed them so heavily that they have had to find a larger building?
We typically visit as many smaller locally owened places as possible any time we travel, and this visit secured that practice for many visits to come. Don’t change anything about your service and staff, and don’t change anything about your kitchen and dinning room. Wow..
2. The bathrooms, I COMPLETELY understand the building you are in is a perfect example of a mom and pop or fry grill, tucked away, kind of location. And Southern Indiana… if you start to treat establishments like this one as though you appreciate them, maybe they could afford to do something about the facilities. Let the Applebee’s Close! Let thise folks come fill up The Cross Eyed Cricket when they have to move tk the larger location. Go there, eat there, you can stay home and microwave a plastic wrapped entree from walmart.. don’t pay these prices for that? Why do we do things that way? Support places like this. Swarm them. Overwhelm them. Empty their menu. Help them update those bathrooms and keep them.
