If you’re in Savannah’s City Market and want a spot that actually delivers on good food, The Café at City Market is an easy win.
The shrimp dip surprised me right away—rich, flavorful, and honestly one of the better versions I’ve had. The shrimp sandwich was fresh and satisfying, packed without being messy. Their burger is exactly what you hope a solid café burger will be: juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked right. And the chicken Caesar wrap was crisp, balanced, and genuinely tasty—not the afterthought you get at some places.
The service was friendly, the food came out quickly, and everything tasted fresh. Simple, good, and absolutely worth a stop. Five stars!

We stopped in for a late lunch. It wasn’t very crowded, but the service was slow. The food was okay, but we just had sandwiches. I will say the spinach and artichoke dip appetizer was pretty awful — really drippy, served with what appeared to be (and tasted like) old Tostitos. Also, I was seated facing the wall between the dining room and the kitchen, which is a bunch of 1” wide slats of wood spaced about an inch apart with black in between. This may not seem like a big deal to you, but it was like a freaking Magic Eye poster or something and almost had me vertigo. So if you go, face the street.

Everything was fine. The food was fine. The service was fine. Décor was fine. Temperature was fine (would have loved more AC). I got a salad and it was absolutely massive. My partner got a wrap, and it was normal sized. Service was a little slow. Our server was working both indoor and outdoor tables, so her attention was a little divided. My salad had fresh strawberries on it, and I would have preferred if they cut off the green tops.

Staff members were all friendly and attentive. Short wait to be seated. Cafe had indoor and outdoor seating options. Food came to the table within 15 minutes of ordering. I ordered the gluten free margherita pizza and it was delicious! My friend had the Catch of the Day sandwich (flounder) and also stated it was a delicious meal choice.

We had a lovely server, full of personality, but the restaurant seems clearly understaffed, since our service was needlessly slow. My salad was very tasty, and the salmon was well cooked. My wife’s sandwich was a bit dry, and the beans tasted like they came out of a can. Overall, we had a positive experience, but room for improvement.

Stopped in for lunch, busy outside almost empty inside. Ordered pretzel bites. Service was slow and I was about to ask about the bites, when the server brought them. The bites were cold, and when asked, the server said they are supposed to be that way. We brought them inside and the manager corrected it quickly. Within a minute, we got a new dish with hot bites. Right after that was our food. I was ready for a 1 star review, but the food was amazing including the hot bites. We had steak and cheese sandwich, Margaret pizza, bbq chicken pizza, and Greek salad. Pizza was perfect size for 1 person. Steak had great seasoning. The sandwich could have looked a little better, but tasted great. Service was the only down side and on all on the server. We spoke with the server, to order, the bites, and the check. If your not in a rush and self sufficient, the place is great.
If you found this review helpful please give it a thumbs up.

2 stars considering several factors . I would give this place 10 stars just for our waiter Danielle. She is the best server ever and any restaurant should have a Danielle in my opinion. . Lovely, fast and super friendly. Food needs to be revisited as well as the menu. Also come on guys French fries and a coca zero you don’t have it ? Really bad

Cute place to sit outside & great service. Our server was very friendly, and the patio itself is nice! I found the food to be underwhelming. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad & a margherita pizza. Both were okay because I was hungry. Absolutely not worth the price points in my opinion. $18 for the salad and $16 for the pizza- which was 4 small slices.

The reviews were terrible so I was worried. It opened in 1991 and still around today probably because it’s good. Everyone at our table a mix of Atlanta and Chicago enjoyed their dish on the outdoor patio. We had blackened blue burger, great with the sauces (aioli and the dill sauce). My father really enjoyed the catch of the day (flounder) on the Texas toast with the aioli. Coleslaw my sister and father said was the best they had ever had, not sweet. Sauces were great. My father liked the signature Georgia Peach sangria. My wife and I really liked the frozen Pina colada, strong on the coconut. Lol all the bad reviews, what are y’all expecting? But thanks for the pleasant surprise

Came by for lunch with a large group and we ordered the pitcher of peach sangria to split. The place was packed and they still managed to sit us inside for a table for 6. They will include gratuity for large groups, something to be aware of. I ordered the pesto grilled cheese which came with chips as seen in photo. The presentation seems a little classic, kind of like a school lunch. The taste however is pretty darn good! Hit the spot for a light fare of a lunch, the sangria was okay as well, was kinda disappointed that it was served in plastic cups and not glass when we ordered the pitcher.
