I booked a group dinner here and I really could not recommend Toko more! The private room was booked out but Louise was so helpful and organised a large table for all our guests.

The service and food was impeccable! Ash was incredibly accommodating and so considerate of our various dietary requirements. We picked the Entori menu, and each course was incredible. I could not have been happier that I picked Toko, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food, especially the sashimi and dessert selection! Thank you to all the amazing chefs and staff who made the dinner possible, we will definitely be back!! 😀

Delicious generous portions of tasty well cooked well made food, lots of sashimi and most entree items tend to be 2 per person. For 125 this is well priced – we did swap out the mousse for the fondant for an extra 10.00. ,’can’t wait to come back again and try the other stuff- the sushi platters look booked amazing,

Delicious food, attentive staff… and don’t skip their desserts!

The kingfish sashimi was a standout, the grilled prawns were also very nicely done, it came with mini brioche buns that was great for savouring the sauce!

Chocolate fondant had this amazing and intense chocolate flavour, without being heavy and sickly sweet! The sundae was such a creative mix of textures and the hint of whisky on the foam was a great touch and all this without bordering on cloying.

It’s not a cheap night out, but well worth the price.

What a lovely surprise to find this hidden Japanese restaurant in Sydney — it matched everything I was looking for!

I did find it a bit unusual for a Sydney restaurant not to serve Sydney Rock oysters, but instead the Pacific ones. Out of curiosity, I asked the waitress why they weren’t using local oysters. She explained that the chef preferred Pacific oysters because their texture and flavour go better with his dipping sauce, while Sydney Rocks are smaller and creamier. Fair enough — though personally, I’m still a big fan of Sydney Rocks!

The food overall was beautiful, and the service was absolutely fantastic. I asked for a glass with more ice, and they kept refilling it so attentively throughout the meal — such a nice touch.

Definitely a place I’ll come back to next time I’m in Sydney.

Great tasting food. Went for set menu and everything was fantastic. Service was great and very helpful with wine suggestions. Only thing was for the price we could’ve got more food. Had to order extra on top of set menu

I recently dined at Toko Sydney and was impressed by the stylish atmosphere and vibrant ambience. The setting is modern yet inviting, and the service was attentive throughout the evening.

We tried the tasting menu ($115 per head), which was beautifully presented and showcased creative flavours. However, the portion sizes were on the small side – we left feeling unsatisfied and ended up grabbing something extra afterwards.

The dishes lean more towards a fusion-style Japanese rather than traditional, which may appeal to some diners, but wasn’t quite what I was hoping for.

Overall, Toko Sydney delivers a fantastic vibe with attentive staff and creative food, but the tasting menu could offer better value and more substance.

A truly upscale Japanese restaurant tucked underground — nothing like the usual places you find around town. You can actually taste how fresh the ingredients are, and the way they prepare each dish feels unique and refined. The presentation is beautiful, but not in a pretentious way. My favorite was definitely the sashimi — clean, layered flavors with a really elegant texture. The tempura zucchini was a surprise too, especially with the cheese injected inside; simple idea but incredibly effective.

The only miss for me was the dessert. It was extremely sweet — one bite was enough, and I feel like not everyone would enjoy something that intense.

What really stood out, though, was the space itself. I absolutely loved the design. The semi-circular booths make the whole experience feel intimate and warm, almost closing the distance between people. I actually fell asleep for a moment against the pillow while my friends were talking — that’s how comfortable it was. It’s rare to find a restaurant that softens the social barrier between diners like this one does, and it left a deep impression on me.

I took my wife to Toko for her birthday, the staff were amazing, there wasn’t a dish that wasn’t good all the food was amazing and the drinks were really good also. Toko has become our favourite Japanese restaurant and it’s a 10/10 for us.
