The owner, Claudia, was warm, welcoming, and took time to explain the menu. Their seafood is truly sea-to-table and never frozen, which you can absolutely taste in every dish.
We started with a cucumber jalapeño lemonade and a coconut lilikoi lemonade — both fresh, tropical, and perfectly refreshing.
The food was outstanding. The Kona lobster Brontë in lemon butter caper sauce was phenomenal, and the handmade pastas had the perfect al dente bite. The frutti di mare — loaded with lobster, squid, shrimp, and added tako — served over tagliatelle was rich, savory, and deeply satisfying. The jumbo Hokkaido scallops were seared beautifully and absolutely delicious.
And the tiramisu… one of the best I’ve ever had.
An unforgettable meal from start to finish!
The Amatriciana was rich and flavorful with tons of guanciale, and the Cioppino was huge—definitely too much for one person. Honestly, we didn’t need to add octopus or scallops; the dishes were already generous and well-balanced on their own.
Our daughter also enjoyed the mango coconut lemonade! Super refreshing, as well as the tiramisu which had lots of coffee infused inside.
Service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout the meal.
Overall, an excellent dining experience. I’d definitely go back!
Claudia went through the menu items, most of which were not on the standard menu. She also talked to us about her and her husband’s philosophy on running a restaurant. Fresh ingredients (including awesome focaccia that tastes like it came right out of the oven), locally sourced ingredients and creatively prepared menu items.
We ordered a very nice bottle of Italian white wine and an appetizer to get us started. For lunch I ordered the squid ink pasta and my wife ordered the scallops. Everything I just mentioned were among the best tasting, freshest and absolutely delicious dishes I have ever had. I’ve been in many fine dining restaurants, some very good, some not so much. This was the best experience I’ve ever had by far.
It’s not cheap, but a great experience is not measured by price. It’s also kinda close to the highway so there is a bit of street noise. However, trust me on this, you will have a great experience here!!
Fresh island fish, shrimp, scallops, calamari, Kona lobster, and other meats served with delicious sauces and House made pasta. Salads fresh from the farm. We enjoyed the Kona lobster ravioli, with fresh seared scallops (because, why not?) in a lovely lemon cream sauce; and the Meatballs in red sauce pasta. Both were incredibly flavorful. We could eat only half of each dish so gourmet leftovers. Certainly hard to choose from their large regular menu + 5 daily specials. Our hostess, owner Claudia, made us feel so welcomed and we left feeling we had made a new Island friend. Yes, this is a bit of a drive north from Kona, but worth every mile. Check their website for hours, as they are open for dinner on Saturday only and reservations are a must. They offer a nice breakfast menu as well.
We started with a Peruvian ceviche featuring local kampachi and Hokkaido scallops. So fresh and full of flavor! For our mains, we went with the mixed seafood squid ink pasta and the seafood cioppino made with gluten-free pasta. Every bite was perfect: the seafood was unbelievably fresh, the pasta was made in-house, and both dishes were among the best we’ve ever had!
For dessert, we tried the gluten-free cookies and chocolate cake. Both were delicious. The food was so good we cleaned our plates completely… and ended up skipping dinner that night, haha.
We loved Cipriano so much that two days later we drove 30 minutes just to come back for lunch. This time, we ordered the seafood cioppino again (because we couldn’t resist) and a white sauce pasta loaded with abalone, octopus, and scallops; and it was just as amazing as before.
Cipriano is hands down our favorite Italian restaurant in the U.S. Thank you, Claudia and Gino, for such unforgettable meals!
I had been coveting this place for about a week and boy did it surpass all expectation. Knowledgeable, attentive service and seafood cooked to perfection, they really hit all the marks. If you’re ready to throw down on an unforgettable dining experience, this is THE place. Chef’s kiss all around.
I can’t wait to visit this gem again!
And then there was the tiramisu. Light, balanced, and indulgent without being heavy, it was the kind of dessert that lingers in your memory long after the meal is over. Every bite felt intentional. This meal rivals every Michelin star restaurant I have dined at.
The staff was so personable-dining experience—something special, the kind of place you recommend immediately and can’t wait to return to.
