I really like this place, very casual and has a fun vibe to it. Everyone comes for the coconut shrimp tacos – these were good but the coconut can be a little heavy, I preferred some of the other dishes. The guacamole was incredible here – the best we had in the whole of our trip in Mexico; we loved the smokiness and the lime-ness of this dish. Equally I loved the aguachile tostada – so fresh and flavourful, very spicy! Special shoutout to the frozen mezcal cocktail they do here, one of the best mezcal drinks I have had. Oh and the fries are great too!

Solid place and worth the wait. We went twice during our stay. The fried calamari with honey Sriracha sauce was my favorite. We also had ceviche tropical, fish tacos, guacamole, coconut shrimp basket, and fish al pastor tacos. All were really good. The drinks take forever and the name system instead of table numbers is a little chaotic. But, definitely somewhere you should go!

The pulpo tostada was amazing — easily one of the best things we’ve had so far. The coconut fried fish taco was decent, but it could be richer in flavor, and serving it as a double tortilla would make it much easier to eat. The coconut shrimp basket was good, and we especially loved the chili oil that came with the tostada.
Unfortunately, the service wasn’t great. The server was very laid-back, which came across as somewhat impolite.

The hype: justified!
The Fish Shack in La Punta is worth every visit. The place is tucked away in a small alley and has a really nice, rustic vibe. There is often a line, but don’t let that scare you off. It’s super organized and the staff is totally attentive.
We didn’t try the hyped tacos, but the baskets are definitely not to be underestimated let me tell you! The Fish ‘n’ Chips were amazing. The fish was super tender, fresh, and not too greasy, with a beautifully crispy batter. The homemade tartar sauce served with it was an absolute dream!
A highlight for me was the fries. The perfect mix between McDonald’s and Burger King, nice and salty, soft on the inside, and not too crunchy. Just right. The Combo Fried Vegetable Basket was also huge and the veggies were top-notch.
If you are in La Punta, you have to go here hands down!

Solid tacos. We went twice during our stay. We ordered a few different taco options, some tostadas and the fries. Tacos pastor was good but not exceptional. Staff were all friendly and the food came quickly. We waited roughly 20 mins for a table both times, but we’ll worth the wait.

Get the fried coconut shrimp taco! At least 2 and you’re well fed. Excellent service. Fun atmosphere and I’ve never had to wait long in line. The food at fish shack is always a good idea!

The pulpo tostada was one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. Other than that – yes it is a bit pricey, the cocunut fried fish and shrimps were good but not att the level of the tostada.
When you get to this busy place – try the pulpo tostada!

This spot came highly recommended with lots of good reviews, so we were excited to try it. The vibe is great—laid-back, hippie-style shack with house music and a really cool atmosphere. The food presentation is beautiful: colorful, fresh, and eye-catching.
That said, the ceviche, while pretty, lacked the spice and brightness you’d expect from a traditional one. The tacos were fine, but not the most memorable in Puerto. Overall, a fun spot with good energy and presentation, though the flavors could use a bit more punch to live up to the vibe.

We were in Puerto Escondido 4 days and came to Fish Shack 6 times during our stay. We tried everything from the tacos, to mezcal, to burgers and everything was absolutely delicious. 3 tacos for 150$ is super reasonable and the vibes were just chill. Honestly fish shack would be one reason why I would come back to Puerto.
