The food, drinks and service were exceptional! Started with the fire roasted elote dip and a spicy pineapple margarita, the bartender allowed me to modify margarita and add a specialty flavoring of coconut liqueur which was the perfect balance of sweet and spicy . For lunch got a taco plate with one birra and one grilled shrimp taco , both tacos had bold taste each there own, pinto beans are made in house and were amazing… can’t forgot the chips and salsa , red, creamy and green salsas served with fresh corn and flour tortillas chips.. over all this place definitely has me wanting to come back

Good place for casual eating with a friend, date, or group. Everything from the complimentary chips and dips to our drinks and entrees tasted great. Service was exceptional with our waiter, Brandon, being attentive and friendly. Loved the relaxed atmosphere and lively yet rustic decor. I will definitely have to revisit to try their drinks. Last minute decision to go here and we were glad we went. Party of 7 of us about 45 minutes before closing. Decor made the dining experience top notch. Everyone in our group loved the food. My wife and I got the chicken mole, and chili verde burritos. Portions were big and both were excellent! Chicken mole has a bit of sweetness to it (maybe cinnamon). Chili verde wasn’t too spicy. (We eat a lot of spicy food regularly). Be sure to get the beignets, YUM. Service was quick and friendly. Overall great experience and we will be going back again.

Holy!! Where do I begin? 10/10. All three members in my party agreed, best Mexican food we’ve ever had. The atmosphere made me feel like I was at disneyland(or.. somewhere cooler lol). The food was incredible, the service was fantastic- super fast and our waitress was so kind(and cuute). Would definitely recommend trying this place out, you won’t be disappointed.

This spot had a fun vibe and great drinks. We tried a fancy tequila- Clase Azul which was expensive but really smooth. I am not a connoisseur so it was wasted on me, but the Dynamite Donkey was complex and delightful. The old fashioned was really cool with the palo santo smoke which gave an earthy taste to the sweetness. I didn’t even remember to take pics before I sucked half of them down.
We did apps because it was a 4:30 stop over after a stressful Santa pic appointment. That was the right choice because the chips and dips were amazing! Deep frying the flour chips is a revelation. Loved the salsas (homemade I think), the guacamole with pickled onions (yessssss) and the queso.
We ended up trying a birria taco before we left as a treat and it was decadent. I’m a sucker for a dip and this was *chefs kiss*. Such a flavor bomb. I got the Caesar salad and some fajitas to go. Will report back on the taste, but they look bomb!

Even on a busy night, this place is the best. I love the traditional sit-down cantina vibe, while also getting delicious and authentic food (in my experience, those don’t always go together in SLC). Everything I have had here is exceptional and very fairly priced for the quality and portions you get. Definitely will be returning here more often.

Don’t skip on: Fajitas and the flour tortilla chips!
Tried out Muertos Cantina for the first time and it was great! I love that the moment you walk in, you’re transported into another place. The decor was very thought out and it whoever designed it did an amazing job.
We ordered a few different dishes and everything came out pretty quickly. The ramen noodles were a little overcooked, but the consommé had great flavor. The fajitas were done well and I really loved the salsas and chips.
The staff were very welcoming and nice. The restaurant was well kept and it was overall a very enjoyable experience!

After looking at the online menu I was a bit skeptical about this place but it was actually very good. I had the two taco plate with carne asada and shrimp and my brother had the chili verde burrito combo. Everything was well seasoned and full of flavor. They brought three small containers of salsa with our chips. A green, a red and a very creamy queso. The green was my favorite and the red was my least favorite because it was too smoky and too hot for me. The restaurant is nicely decorated and clean and the service was good.

This spot caught me off guard, and honestly I was pleasantly surprised! I had the Birria Taco Plate, and my partner the Fajita combo. The chips and salsa were really good, and they bring you 3 different sauces to try. A Chile Arbol, a Salsa Verde and a Chipotle Crema. All of them were great and the arbol actually had some kick too which seems rare around here. They also have a spicy Serrano crema, which was very authentic and so good. The chips, oh the chips!! A mix of perfectly thin corn tortilla chips and flour puff tortilla chips, so good. I had a spicy Marg also which was done well, especially for Utah. The Birria was top notch, the consume was great, and they have house style pinto beans which are more authentic. These could have used a touch more flavor, but still really good. The fajitas were also really good, especially the shrimp. Servings were solid for the price. Also, our server, Juan was great! I would consider this a slightly “elevated” mexican spot, and I would absolutely recommend trying it!

This place is amazing! My girlfriend and I have already eaten here twice in the last week, and Muertos Cantina never ceases to deliver. Food is of the best quality Mexican food we’ve eaten. The home made chips and salsa complimentary with the experience is delicious. And staff are friendly and kind. Great for a date night or family gathering, or a solo trip sitting at their decorative bar!
