This is my second time at this place. I loved it the first time. Good breakfast, good service. But this time I ordered takeout and wasn’t pleased at all. I ordered a pretty standard breakfast and a chicken and fry platter. Fries were soggy, the bacon on the breakfast meal was rock solid and extremely hard to chew. My biggest issue was the apple pie I had ordered. It was raw, inedible. All of the signs in Pine Grove advertised their pie so I figured I’d order some if it was that good and unfortunately I can’t even eat it.

Their food is absolutely delicious! I got the roast turkey with filling and corn. Absolutely delicious, super soft and moist turkey. Well worth every penny spent! I highly recommend them!

Had been driving a few hours on our way to Virginia and felt hungry, we decided to google for a nice place near the highway to stop for lunch.

This was our first (and last) time there. I ordered the pork chops with mashed potatoes, corn and coleslaw. I very specifically ordered my pork MEDIUM WELL. When food arrives, I start eating and there was absolutely no flavor in anything. The pork chops didn’t taste like anything. The mashed potatoes was just disgusting and don’t even talk about the corn, it was completely flavorless.

I was trying to eat at least a little bit because we had already stopped and spent the time there waiting for the food, and I was very hungry. Suddenly my husband said “that pork smells weird” and then I looked closely to realize it was pretty much raw I clearly told the waitress I wanted it cooked medium well. I ended up leaving the food on the table.

My husband ordered a coffee with creamer, and after waiting very long for a coffee, she brings it to the table and very disrespectfully throws the creamer on the table.

When we go to the counter to pay for this disgusting food, the waitress asks if we were going to put a tip. Like, she doesn’t does her job right, is disrespectful and brings raw food ti the table and still wants her tip.

We left her tip on the table because we still were given the service, although this has been our worst experience ever in a restaurant.

All this happened yesterday at around 2pm and during the night my stomach was feeling upset. At around 3am I had to run to the bathroom with a terrible diarrhea. Right now I am having headaches. I am hoping I didn’t get any bacteria from ingesting that raw pork. And hopefully my body just cleans itself from that nasty food.

I do not recommend this place at all.

We chose this restaurant for the good reviews. Which is why I also ordered the fried chicken and mashed potatoes with gravy, The food looked delicious and that’s where it came to an end.

With the very first bite into the mashed potatoes I thought I was eaten drywall joint compound. It had a chemical taste and I knew the meal was going to be problematic.

I had two pieces of fried chicken. The first bite of first piece of chicken was undercooked. When the sent was no longer masked by its fried outer layer, the flesh smelled rancid as if it was rotten.

My colleague paid for the meal, so I tried the second piece of chicken and it was a bit more tolerable. I took several bites in an attempt to be courteous. However, as I ate more the chicken began to emit a foul odor. Only the applesauce was edible, that’s because it was obviously store bought. They managed to slightly mess this up too with the excessive cinnamon sprinkled on top.

My colleague ordered the special, “Chicken Pot Pie” and he only ate half then complained that it was too salty. He mentioned there was barely any chicken, nor did it contain any pie like crust.

This is a place for locals whom I believe have never experienced good food. This restaurant only exists as it is adjacent to an active highway and I believe they have duped a great many travellers.

The restaurant has a rustic log cabin like feel which is tolerable but can be much improved with increased cleanliness.

If you’re not local then you must be patient as the staff will serve locals before unknown patrons. Several groups of individuals arrived and ordered after us but were served their meals first.

After leaving the restaurant I had a three hour drive. During the drive I couldn’t wait to brush my teeth. I spat bits of chicken out the window as they loosened from between my teeth.

I can say the best experience we both had is that we did not eat enough to get sick. Truly we should have had the leftovers packed and sent to a lab to be tested. I’m almost afraid they’ll serve what was left to someone else.

Stopped for breakfast on the bike. Even though it was full, I was seated right away. Service was prompt and friendly.
The meal was good, I would like to try some other menu items. The decor and atmosphere inside was pleasant.

What a hidden gem off of 81 in Pine Grove, PA.

Amazing service, super fast service, and genuine home cooking.

A must stop if you want a meal like grandma used to make.

We were passing through the Pine Grove area around lunch time and hadn’t eaten, decided to stop in to Buddy’s Log Cabin for a bite.
Ok, so if you are looking for fancy, or don’t like taxidermy animals “watching” you as you eat, keep driving. This isn’t your place. We are less impressed with atmosphere than we are with food.
We sat at a booth near the door, were greeted by our friendly server pretty quickly.
The “specials” list was extensive. I opted to order off the menu, am a huge broasted chicken fan. My friend ordered a cheeseburger.
Dinners come with not one, not two, but three sides! Three!!! Wow!
I opted to order the fries for my friend whose burger seemed to not have a side (What’s a cheeseburger without fries, pretty lonely right?), as well as a baked potato, and side salad.
As we waited for our order, I couldn’t help but notice what a friendly place Buddy’s is. All the servers seem to know every person who walked in the door or those who were leaving. There was chatter beyond the “Have a nice day” standard. Some patrons even spoke to us. What a neat “Homey” vibe!
Our food arrived.
My salad was very nice, loved the shredded red cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, and Newman’s dressing packet. The baked potato was your standard fare. Since they don’t seem to serve with butter but only margarine, I decided to take the potato on “The styrofoam field trip home.”
Now, let’s talk turkey, er, chicken.
Oh cluckin’ yea!!!! Resting every so wonderfully on my plate were two golden, crispy, hot chicken breasts. Unlike many restaurants that serve broasted chicken, at Buddy’s they must rest the chicken on a towel before plating. There wasn’t a pool, not even a baby one of fat under the meat. Nice!
The chicken was tender and juicy. The broast crunch was delightful. This had to be some of the best chicken I have ever had, and that says a lot. Chicken is my favorite meal at anywhere other than a steak or seafood place. I love chicken but, I’m not crazy.
The fries were of the shoestring type and came on a little platter, definitely enough to share. They were pretty tasty too.
My friend really enjoyed his burger, said the beef melted in his mouth.
While we didn’t order dessert, the pieces of cake that the servers were taking to other tables looked amazing and home made.
Buddy’s Log Cabin was a fantastic, surprising stop, and definitely one worthy of a return trip.
One more note, the sign out front boasts they were voted “Best breakfast.” As we dined, several people came in to pick up take out breakfast sandwiches. Hmmmmm. Maybe their breakfasts really are eggxtraordinary!!!!

Decided to take a roadtrip on a cloudy day to a place we were told we have to try. The name fits. The log cabin feel was spot on. The service was very good. The food was good as well. We took half of it home with us. We will be back to try more things on the menu. We had the meat loaf and ham steak. After seeing one of the hot sandwiches go by us I already know what I will be ordering.
