I have been to Ed’s Family Restaurant a few times before and wasn’t very impressed. So when some friends wanted to meet there, I decided to give them another chance. I wasn’t impressed before or after this visit. I wanted to give them the benefit of a doubt. First off parking is ok you can either park off the street or behind the building across the street.
The restaurant itself isn’t very big so there’s was a wait. My group of four waited over 45 minutes in the cold was it worth it no. I could have prepared us a better breakfast at home. The food came out luke warm. I sent mine back. Of course, I didn’t exchange it for anything else. I have heard too many horror stories. They definitely need waitresses or waiter. The waitress took our drink orders brought them to the table then we had to wait atleast 20-25 minutes for her to take our order. When we got our food the waitress check on us once. We had to flag another waitress down for more coffee and we felt like we were bothering her. Then we had to ask for the check. Our waitress was busy talking to I guess regulars, family or friends. We had to say excuse me can we get the check. But she had to finished her conversation first.
The lady at the cashier register has no personality.
I don’t like to make things racial but we were the only brown people in there and it felt a bit unwelcoming.

Good food, excellent wait staff, great ambiance if you like diner type restaurants which I for sure do. Great food selection on the menu, biscuits were awesome, cheesy grits and omelet was so tasty. If you’re in the area stop in and you imo will be glad you did.

Family friendly. Hometown food with a welcoming, warm atmosphere. Located downtown in Angier, it has a fun location to walk through different shops on your way to breakfast, lunch, or dinner. *Not* open on Sundays or Mondays. Hours vary throughout the week.
Today was my first time there. I tried one of their specials and it was excellent. I had the grilled flounder and it was extremely flavorful. The sides that I chose were the cucumber and tomato salad (bursting with flavor), and the macaroni salad (also very well done). They also gave me three hush puppies…. I’m newer to the south, and we don’t really have these where I’m from lol. These are probably the best I’ve had. They were crispy, flavorful, not greasy, and not too doughy. Just right. They also have a little bakery section up at the front.
When you walk in, it’s kinda misleading about the size of the restaurant. I thought it was smaller than it is, but it has a pretty good amount of seating. They were very busy when I got there (noon on Friday). I’ll be back with my family (I met my friend, today).
Parking is a tad rough (it’s downtown). You can park on the streets, by the library, by the old train station, or anywhere you find a spot I’m not used to that, but it wasn’t a big deal.

Moved here a couple months ago and have been to Ed’s a good bit since then. Everyone is always super friendly! I do think some of the food is hit or miss as I wasn’t a fan of the hamburger steak or the French toast but a lot of the menu is amazing!
The grits are the best, they have an amazing hash brown casserole, the sausage links are so good, the country ham is perfect and super good as a breakfast sandwich. Their biscuits are so soft and good. They always have lunch specials for a great price. The cheeseburgers are good too.
We really enjoy coming here. It is for sure a nice small town restaurant and they know all the regulars by name and orders.

My family and I finally got our butts up early enough to beat the rush at this restaurant and we were happy we did. The food was fantastic and the service was amazing. And on top of all that we fed 4 people for an extremely affordable price! We highly recommend to anyone!

We waited 40+ minutes for our food to come out, which is simply unacceptable. The waitress was nice and apologized throughout the time, but perhaps some kind of explanation and no empty “it’s coming out soon” when it wasn’t would’ve been appreciated. We got there around 1:15pm and the food came out close to 2pm, so it wasn’t peak lunchtime, either. The food was decent. I’m thinking that maybe this was an unusual experience, given the overall ratings and reviews of this place. Nonetheless, our experience was incredibly terrible. My three children were even more displeased, though they handled it maturely.

Made me happy! Good food, great waitstaff. Also I needed to wait to be seated, and two groups of people offer me to join them. Angier people are the best!

I’ve been wanting to go here for a long time. I’m glad I finally did. I’m from small town Alabama and any chance I get to have good country cooking I do it. This place, spot on. There is literally nothing else to say about it, but great, small town, country cooking.
