Chowrastha in Austin / Cedar Park is a wonderfully vibrant Indian eatery and easily one of my favorite spots for an authentic, flavor-packed meal; their menu is impressively broad, from street food snacks to rich curries, biryanis, dosa and South Indian breakfast items, so whatever you’re craving—mild and comforting or bold and spicy—they’ve got something to hit the spot. The ambiance is casual and welcoming, perfect for a family dinner or a casual catch-up, and the service tends to be prompt and friendly, which matters a lot when you’re hungry. I especially loved how their biryani brings great aroma and depth without overwhelming the palate, and their breads (naan, dosa, etc.) feel fresh and well made. There are times when spice levels can surprise you (if you order “mild,” maybe specify!), but the overall consistency, value, and diversity of flavors make Chowrastha a stand-out in the area. If you like your Indian food with character, variety, and an unpretentious charm, this place is a gem.

This place basically looks like an Indian coffee shop inside a grocery store. They have a huge menu of items. Got some food to go and I can see why people come here. The prices are good and the portions are pretty big. The hakka noodles were ok, it was packing heat but lacking a little flavor for me. The mutton biryani was delicious. My photo does make it look unattractive but I can tell you it was delicious!! I will definitely come back here again.

I ordered the jalapeño chicken, and I am very disappointed with the quality. I’m not even sure what kind of chicken was used — it honestly seemed like it had been taken out of the fridge and simply reheated. The appearance was unusual and not at all what I’ve experienced before.
I have ordered jalapeño chicken several times in the past, and it has never looked like this. There were no jalapeños in the dish at all, which is unacceptable given the name. This is the second time I have received such low-quality food from here. The chicken looked shredded and poorly prepared, which raises concerns about hygiene and food standards.
I expected better quality and consistency.

I ordered the Indian stuffed mirchi bhaji along with puri, and everything was absolutely delicious. The bhajis were perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and tasted very authentic. The stuffed mirchi bhaji was especially good — crispy on the outside and spicy in the right way.
The puri curry was very nice, rich, and comforting, and it paired perfectly with the puris. If you enjoy classic Indian street-style food, this combination is a must-try.

We ordered the Chowrastha Fried Chicken starter and it was a complete disaster. The chicken looked terrible inside — discolored and unappetizing. The texture was rubbery, like old, stored meat, and the taste was equally disappointing. It felt like we were served something way past its prime. Definitely not recommended. You need to take care of the reviews too and improve better

I enjoyed the food. I order the buy one get one free chicken mandi. Its $22.99 on Uber eats. The taste is great but the portion size is disappointing. I received 2 leg quarters and large amount of rice. I call the restaurant asking if this was correct. The picture on Uber eats menu shows 2 leg quarters per order. So my expectations would be 4 leg quarters if this is a bogo free. The rice portion was ok. So 1 leg quarter and some rice for $23 not worth it.
