The Grasshopper Lounge opened it’s doors in 1971 by owners Jesse and Cleo Rosales in Downtown Adrian, Michigan. There my family acquired the other half of the structure and El Chapulin the Tex Mex Restaurant was launched. Still in business and operated by our entire family, we have since opened a second location in Sarasota, Florida. Grandma’s secret: prepare everything in small batches, so we never jeopardize the art form of our food.
Relaxed, traditionally decorated venue with a patio offering Mexican food favorites & margaritas.

Went to The Grasshopper with a group of six and had the steak fajitas — easily some of the best I’ve had in a while, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The margaritas were spot on, balanced and fresh. Our waiter was friendly, on top of everything, and made the night easy. Great spot all around.

If you like hot salsa ask for the extra hot it was delicious and it reminded me of New Mexico. I will write another review after I finish my meal. We have driven by this place a few times but when we stopped at a store nearby and smelled the delightful aromas coming from the Grasshopper, we had to stop for lunch. We were not disappointed. Food was tasty and in just the right portions. Atmosphere was fun and the service was exceptional.

Staff and food was amazing! I left my phone there and messaged the owner after hours. The owner made sure to coordinate with staff to get my phone back during non operational hours. 5 stars all the way around! I highly recommend this place for good food and a chill atmosphere.

Well we went there about 5 pm on a Friday night. We got in quickly and Lexi was really cool. She got us water and took our drink orders. I got the $6 marg and it was decent for a house special. I guess my biggest complaint is chips and salsa was $2.95 extra. First time paying for chips and salsa. The chips were great, salsa was really good. Not a big fan of how the salsa was brought out in squirt bottles, I took top off and it was funky through the spout I dumped it straight from bottle. My tacos were seasoned well and tasted great. Rice was really flavorable but just didn’t seem like true Mexican rice. Wife’s enchilada plate was great she said. I would say that the spotlight for this dining experience was Lexi, she was great. Checked on us often and had some laughs. Will I go back? Yes, if I’m in that area I surely will.

The food here is fantastic. The thing that keeps me from providing a 5 star review and appears to need a lot of improvement are the servers. They all seem like they’re overworked and none of them smile at all. When one of them was asked for a rag to clean up a sticky mess on the seat before another customer sat down she rolled her eyes and when the customers said thank you, she never replied anything but rolled her eyes again. That’s really bad customer service. In fact I am going to knock this from 4 stars to 3 because of that.
Our server was very busy and it was not even busy when we came in. We saw her very few times. She was extremely nice when we did see her and kept the drinks filled but became super rushed when it did get busy.
The food was great. No… The food was fantastic! No… The food was amazingly good. I will definitely come back. Our server, as little as we saw her, was still great. I only wish I would have seen her more.
The tea was great and the desert was just brilliant.
Please work on more training with the servers and probably make sure the servers have tables that are close together rather than separated apart so the customers can see their servers more and this place would be awesome.

Edit: It has been 3 years since my first review of this place. I’ve been back several times and the service, when I am alone, is always fantastic 5 star service. The food remains wonderful regardless of the quality of service.

Ate here twice in a week. Both times food delicious. Steak and chicken fajitas were awesome 1st time and pork tamales the 2nd. Party of 6 both times, everyone enjoyed thier meals. Service excellent both visits! I shall return!

FRESH ingredients but shredded chicken wasn’t seasoned at all. This was our 2nd visit so I’m not chalking it up to a coincidence. Nice chips and salsa. Friendly server. Large portions. Excellent, fresh rice and beans. I think fiesta time is 3:30-6:30. If we return, maybe I’ll order something else other than the unseasoned chicken burrito.
