Before Cancun, before El verde …
El Chico was the institution of Mexican food in T-town.
This place used to be very popular, early 90 used to come here for lunch with consultants.
Glad to see it is still here!
Didn’t sit at the bar because not anyone there, but close enough to see the actions and interactions.
The skinny margaritas was excellent!
The bean was really good!
Love the beef taco and the beef and chicken enchiladas, especially the sauces!
Will be back for more !

If you like el Chico’s, you like el Chico’s. Our server was great and good food as usual. You could tell they had been busy because they were catching up on clean up as fast as they could.

Tex Mex at its finest! We always, always enjoy EL CHICOs.. what a wonderful restaurant. Our Enchiladas are the best, service is accommodating & they are happy to serve us. Their queso is tasty, yum, so good. One of my favorites is the sour cream sauce with chicken enchiladas. Stop by one of these restaurants, you will get great food!

El Chico an Icon of the Mexican restaurant industry.

Hey don’t judge me… I hate to admit this, but excluding Taco Bell, over the years I have eaten more Mexican food at various El Chico’s, than any other Mexican restaurant. In its day, dependably good food, consistent in taste and presentation; restaurant to restaurant.

My wife had the N0 1 Lunch Special; large taco, cheese enchilada covered with red chili sauce. I went with my tiresome, but loved selection; Mama’s Special Enchiladas; two beef. Good salsas delivered with the chips, plus they still have the jalapeno, carrot and onion relish bowl, served with warm corn tortillas and butter. Properly prepared; a buttered tortilla, filed with the relish and/or salsa if you like, eaten like a taco or rolled and eaten like a taquito. Good memories!

My wife and I have been eating at this particular El Chico off and on since the early 80’s. Back then there wasn’t much competition in the Mexican food scene in Tulsa. The El Chico’s were the best.

Now, I think the brand is struggling as the competition grows in the Mexican food market.

My daughter and I came here for an early dinner. The building might be old but everything was absolutely amazing. The decor felt authentic, our server Randall was absolutely perfect with taking our order and making sure everything was just right. Our food came out quickly and was the best Tex-Mex we both have had in a very long time. The best part was the Mexican Apple Pie. It was perfect. Even if you don’t like apple pie, please try some! Overall, solid 10/10

DISCLAIMER: I’m honored to be a Top 10 Reviewer for Google. I do my best to be fair and honest but realize your experience may differ from mine. So, please keep that in mind when considering this restaurant, establishment, and/or venue. REVIEW: Been eating at this restaurant for decades. My favs are the Chicken Monterey dinner, the Enchilada dinner, the combo fajitas, the top shelf guacamole, and the tortilla soup. Service is great. Manager is very friendly. The complimentary set-up of salsa, chips, tortillas, and relish is awesome. Pictured is the Combo Fajitas that are only $19.99 on Tuesdays after 5:00pm. You get the fajitas and two set ups of rice and choice of beans. A very good deal!

Would not even rate this place a 1 star. This was an awful experience.. ordered Alambres and was told the veggies included were carrots, onions, and bell peppers.& said no carrots. As you can see, they gave me mushrooms, POTATOS, carrots, green beans???
The owner was so rude. The worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Definitely NOT authentic at all. The queso wasn’t good but I still had hope until food came out. Manager came and yelled at me and my friend who are two young nice girls.
As soon as I got my phone out to record because I felt unsafe with a grown man in my face he walked away.
Does this look like Mexican food to you??? NO!
