Reviews
El Chico was the institution of Mexican food in T-town.
This place used to be very popular, early 90 used to come here for lunch with consultants.
Glad to see it is still here!
Didn’t sit at the bar because not anyone there, but close enough to see the actions and interactions.
The skinny margaritas was excellent!
The bean was really good!
Love the beef taco and the beef and chicken enchiladas, especially the sauces!
Will be back for more !
Hey don’t judge me… I hate to admit this, but excluding Taco Bell, over the years I have eaten more Mexican food at various El Chico’s, than any other Mexican restaurant. In its day, dependably good food, consistent in taste and presentation; restaurant to restaurant.
My wife had the N0 1 Lunch Special; large taco, cheese enchilada covered with red chili sauce. I went with my tiresome, but loved selection; Mama’s Special Enchiladas; two beef. Good salsas delivered with the chips, plus they still have the jalapeno, carrot and onion relish bowl, served with warm corn tortillas and butter. Properly prepared; a buttered tortilla, filed with the relish and/or salsa if you like, eaten like a taco or rolled and eaten like a taquito. Good memories!
My wife and I have been eating at this particular El Chico off and on since the early 80’s. Back then there wasn’t much competition in the Mexican food scene in Tulsa. The El Chico’s were the best.
Now, I think the brand is struggling as the competition grows in the Mexican food market.
The owner was so rude. The worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Definitely NOT authentic at all. The queso wasn’t good but I still had hope until food came out. Manager came and yelled at me and my friend who are two young nice girls.
As soon as I got my phone out to record because I felt unsafe with a grown man in my face he walked away.
Does this look like Mexican food to you??? NO!
