When you are traveling recommendations are very important when they are deserving, and Chez Franklin deserves all the praise. From the warm welcome, the great (Motown) music, and the very interesting menu, all high points. We were so lucky to have a chance to eat here, we would be regulars if we lived nearby!

Thankyou to Chez Franklin for responding to my previous review which I have since deleted. This made me realise I had confused Chez Franklin with a restaurant we had attempted to eat at on the lunchtime – my apologies.
So yes we did eat here, it had been on my list of restaurants I had researched before our holiday with fish and vegetarian options.
Good menu, I had seabass ( the sauce in the little dish was stunning -see photo). From the photo I think my OH had mushroom risotto. We shared profiteroles for desert- excellent.

Managed to grab the last table of a busy Friday, which we were grateful for. Staff were fluent in English, although we like to work on our French, that was appreciated! We enjoyed a glass of house champagne as well purused the menu priced at €13. I had a tasty lamb shank that was tender and delicious with hearty mash potatoes confit garlic with the fragrance of rosemary completing this classic bistro dish. My partner enjoyed a perfectly cooled steak with a generous and rich bearnaise, ideal for dunking the crispy fries as well as for the meat. We both had our eye on dessert as we sat down and took in the convivial atmosphere, which contained a mix of families, couples, locals and tourists. My rum Baba was light as a feather and they generously allow you to add your own rum! Sarah’s bread and butter pudding was comforting and service was friendly and efficient. Great little bistro service food at a good price point. Bravo!

Nice ambiance, great service, and they really do care in the kitchen. Had an enjoyable dinner – escargot, duck breast and salmon tataki – all expertly prepared and beautifully presented. Highly recommended.

Ceviche was excellent.
Our dishes were good as well, although I wished their steak had a stronger taste of the beef.

To start, take the Ceviche! This was full of flavour and very tasty. I then had the steak as main paired with red wine, and creme brulé for dessert. Delightful combination. Gets busy around 12pm so going a bit earlier worked very well.

A gorgeous meal! 3 of us turned up without a reservation and we were immediately squeezed in. Food and wine was fantastic, staff spoke both French and English to our mixed-language table, and we had some fantastic recommendations. Would absolutely recommend, and would return tomorrow evening if we could!
