The Melt Ordering – Thanx
Reviews
I came to The Melt in Berkeley to eat. I ordered the garlic fries with parmesan, and honestly, it’s one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever tasted .
The fries were cold, maybe because they didn’t bring them on time or because they just dumped them in oil with chopped garlic and chili trying to fake a “chimichurri” or something. The cardboard tray had a literal oil puddle at the bottom. Total mess.
Then I ordered the tomato soup, which turned out to be the most orange and sugary “tomato soup” I’ve ever seen. Honestly, I doubt it was even made from tomatoes. The croutons were just as disgusting.
⚠️ Don’t order this unless your taste buds are dead.
Next came the Bacon Barbecue Double Burger. To be fair, the burger was tasty .
But it took forever. When it finally came, an older lady brought it—very kind, unlike the younger girl working there, who has zero empathy, no motivation, and probably some racial bias issues.
I asked if the burger was hot, she looked confused, said it was left aside and they’d make a new one. Three minutes later it was back on my table. Yeah right—they didn’t make a new one, they just reheated it. Inside was hot, bun was cold.
I had also asked for a side of pickles, and they just threw half a cold pickle on the tray paper. No care at all.
The place looks fine, but it’s empty—and now I know why .
Checked Google Maps while eating and saw it has 2.8 stars, which honestly feels too generous.
About the beer :
• The Pilsner is terrible.
• The Mexican lager Agua Santa is decent, not amazing, but way better than the Pilsner.
Bottom line: I do not recommend this place at all.
Bad food, bad service, and overpriced for what you get.
Save your money and go somewhere else.
PS: Kerry is the only valuable asset there.
PS: situation was so bad they removed the soup 2 drinks and 3 dollars from my bill
Not family friendly. Very crude staff
