Hi/Fi Taco is a concept born out of Chef Nate Anda’s genuine love and appreciation of tacos, featuring playful riffs in-line with his work at Red Apron and The Partisan over the years. The menu features a rotating selection of tacos alongside plays on nachos, queso and more. Proteins are all high quality and sourced locally whenever possible, while all garnishes are handmade. At this time, there is no walk-up service for Hi/Fi Taco. Find an established pick-up area for carryout orders, or order from the full menu while seated at Shelter!

Hi/Fi is located in the Roost. I got take out here a few nights ago. It was pretty good. I found it overall to be lacking in any punches of flavors, but it was cooked well and was very fresh. I had the avocado tacos, which I found needed far more texture. The avocado was fried but not crispy. The chicken taco salad also was missing a crunchy element, but the components were all tasty. Overall, there is better Mexican in DC, but this will do in a pinch.

Caveat that this rating is based off one taco type but man was it superb. How well this was indicates the rest must at least be good or great. Great add to this eclectic food hall.
The Roost is awesome as a food hall first of all. You sit anywhere, order and pay through the QR code, but you also get a high level of table service. Not only do they bring the food out to your table, a floating set of professional and courteous wait staff bring you water, plate, silverware and a cloth napkin (fancy). The whole hall is well designed and decorated.
I went with the 3 Chili Marinated Catfish tacos with Smoked Crema, Habanero Pickled Onions, Shaved Lettuce. You get two tacos for less than $7 which is kind of a deal these days. The flavor was off the chain, just the right amount of heat for these tender on the inside / blackened on the outside catfish.
Can’t wait to come back and try some other creations from the menu.

I shared the Orange Soda Braised Carnitas tacos as an appetizer, and they were amazing!! Lots of delicious crema && melted cheese grilled to perfection. Would highly recommend.
