I had a carnitas quesadilla hot and well cooked. It came with a side of quac, sour cream, pico on a bed of lettuce. I asked for black beans and rice to go with it. The sides were kinda lackluster. The quesadilla was great though. Thats all I’ve had so far from them maybe its just a bad batch.

Nice new Mexican restaurant that opened in beacon Street. We tried the food right away, got the enchiladas, quesadillas, flan and tres leches. Food was amazing and tasted delicious. The price was affordable and the food quality was good with fresh meat and sides. The portions was small for that price. Loved the artistic style, great paintings and nice place to have a dine in. Customer service was amazing and the service was fast. The menu board was small and hard to read with so much lighting but the menu options are great. Desserts were good too but still very small size for that price. Definitely a great place to try. Will definitely visit again.

Solid Mexican spot. I ordered a grilled chicken Torta. It was pretty good but nothing special.
Second visit. I went with a breakfast torta. It was better than the Chicken torta but it took about 17 minutes to prepare which seemed a bit excessive seeing that I was one of 2 customers present. I was also confused about the contents of the breakfast torta seeing that the menu gives no description.

Deleted my preview five star review from two years ago to reflect my most recent visit. Came on a Saturday night because I just needed a quick bite and it was pretty much empty. I ordered an al pastor burrito with no cheese and they were able to accommodate.
When it was ready, the worker thought it’d be appropriate to ask, “China?” I was confused so he clarified, “Are you from China?” You would think that in a city like Boston in the year 2025 that that kind of question would be stupid to ask, especially to someone who speaks non-accented American English and just happens to be some kind of Asian.
The food is decent enough but I’m disappointed that my experience with Chilacates has been affected like this especially since I loved it since my college days.

I honestly have REALLY conflicting and mixed opinions about the place. It had a name to live up to, a famous name that all Brookline residents knew and loved, Anna’s taqueria. A name that became famous in my household as well as throughout many Brookline events such as the Driscoll annual festival. Anna’s taqueria always catered. Although, since the well beloved owner, Michael “Mike” Yoshiomi Kamio passed away in 2019, burrito shops have had a name to live up to in Boston. Chilacates took a brave step building a burrito shop where the original Anna’s used to be. Living up to the name and staying to the name is going to one heck of an uphill battle. When I went in, I was pleasantly surprised to smell the intoxicating waft of fresh corn tortillas, and smoked meat. Although the menu was laid out with an array of colourful pictures of Tortas, enchiladas, burritos and quesadillas I found it confusing to order. It didn’t feel like there was a lot of “wiggle-room” for a “build your own.” I felt like I couldn’t really choose what I wanted, it was only the bowl that you could pick and choose. The reason I say this is because I really wanted to add hot sauce into it and I was surprised to find that they wouldn’t put the sauce on the quesadilla. I was bummed to find that all the “goodies” (ie guacamole, sour cream & lettuce) were on the side. I thought it was weird. I also gotta say that it’s WAYYY too expensive for what it is, it came out to $45 for 2 entrées, and two elotes. C’mon man, that’s highway robbery.

Some days you just need enchiladas. If you’re in Coolidge Corner, this is where you go. Neither Anna’s Taqueria nor Los Amigos Taqueria have enchiladas.

I found hair in my food. The worker insisted that this was not hair but it was. Instead of pulling the item out to inspect it she just threw it out. Not sure why that specific worker always has a bad attitude but this will definitely be my last time eating here after finding that in my food along with the poor customer service

Just went here for lunch. Only 10 dollars for the burrito bowl and 1$ for a Poland spring. The food was delicious and very fresh. WAY better than Chipotle and cheaper. Also the place is VERY clean and nice inside. There is nowhere else you will get a lunch this good for this cheap. Hats off to them for not price gouging and serving delicious food. I will definetly be coming back
